"SINGAPORE (Reuters) - Asian oil traders are bracing for another round of hefty price falls on Monday in key benchmarks Brent and Dubai after the world's top exporter Saudi Arabia slashed prices, reigniting a market share battle among key producers.

The world's top producers including Saudi Arabia, Russia and other Middle East producers were last locked in a market share war between 2014 and 2016 as they tried to squeeze out shale production from the United States by reducing prices and offering more supplies to Asia.

The battle ended when the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and Russia struck a deal to cut production.

That truce shook on Friday when OPEC, led by Saudi Arabia, failed to reach agreement with the world's No. 2 oil producer Russia to deepen production cuts aimed at shoring up prices...."

The 2014 cuts dampened the economy in Texas. You wonder if US is target or if Iran and Russia are targets. I would bet Iran over Yemen and Russia over Syria are the targets.

<next media campaign--Trump is being bought by the Saudis who want his re-election>04-cheers

What this news means is that the Saudis and Russians are no longer on the same page and Putin is one pissed mother over this development. He needs prices to stay fixed. I would think that this has potential to further destabilize Iran and may not ultimately bode well for Turkey either. I wouldn't be surprised if Saudi production suffered some significant setbacks.

I'm not sure this is going to play out the way either side thinks.

We need to bring back manufacturing as well and be free of China and our dependence on their cheaply made and cheap products. But don't ask me how we accomplish that.

We'll get some back but will have to be satisfied with that manufacturing moving out of China. Mexico will be a popular destination, with NAFTA finally doing what its supposed to.

You mean USMCA doing what NAFTA was supposed to do (but didn't).

Correct

Until we stop treating vocational education as “something only dumb kids do” we will never see improvements in our workforce. I used to get engineer co-ops from Vanderbilt and Purdue in my office that couldn’t read a tape measure. These guys had no business being in engineering school.

The idea that every child must have a 4 year college degree is killing American manufacturing. Preparing every child for college means the shop classes are replaced by keyboarding class or some other soft skill. The result is we have young people that can’t afford to go to college, that don’t want to go to the military, showing up applying for manufacturing jobs that have never turned a screwdriver.

We are entering a crucial time in American manufacturing, talented, experienced craftsman are retiring, leaving the workforce every day and they aren’t being replaced at the same rate they are leaving. If we don’t do something to replace the drain the situation in manufacturing will reach a critical point.

Or will be filled by the same individuals who currently make up the home construction market.

Not really...honestly the Hispanic population of Louisville isn’t that large.

When I returned from California in 2011, I took over a factory here in Louisville that cut steel. I was having a difficult time hiring employees.

After having two factories in California with nothing but Hispanic employees I wanted to hire a few for my Louisville plant. Hoping they would help improve the work ethic in the facility. I contacted a employment agency that specialized in helping immigrants find employment. Couldn’t hire any here in the city.

Most of my Mexican friends here in the city work in the horse racing industry or in agriculture.

No, actually he's right. NAFTA did do what it was supposed to do, it made Trump come up with a better deal, you know, like Oblunder made the American people vote for a better president. Two failures then two wins.
