Best rice wbskb player ever?
Seems to me the short list is Erica, Jessica Kuster, and Marla Brumfield. I'm leaning to Kuster. Thoughts?

Erica. However both Erica and Marla played for better coaches.

Lauren Neaves would have to be on a Rice WBB Mount Rushmore as well. She was a tremendous player.

RE: Best rice wbskb player ever?
I've probably seen more Rice women's basketball games over the past 35 years than anyone on this board but Bob Schlanger.
I'd put Erica and Marla Brumfield 1A and 1B - it's really tough to put one over the other. Marla was a better athlete and WNBA prospect, but Erica has accomplished more on the court. Both were Houston players of the year in high school - and I believe our only two pretty much in school history.
Jessica Kuster really got hamstrung by being a great player on some really bad teams. That was true also for some players in the 1980's like Holly Jones (and Amelia Cooper who was also hurt for much of her Rice career). I'd put the top 5 as Erica/Marla, Jessica Kuster, Lauren Nieves and Kirra Jordan (Nancy Mulkey could get into the top 5 with one more season next year hopefully where she stays healthy).
BTW Erica was named 1st team academic all-American yesterday. As I said the other day, I'd retire her uniform next year and hang it in Tudor - for her on-the-court and off-the-court accolades, I think she should become the first women's basketball player at Rice to have that honor.

Funny as I noted on Lauren, I almost included Kirra. Kuster was a one woman show, just always thought she was just a beast on the court. But can't argue with Marla/Erica.
