And the 4-point play allows ODU to tie it up at 67.

She is.

That's really bad. This isn't the beginning of the 3rd quarter. This is crunch time...if she fouls out, she fouls out. She's handicapping the team unnecessarily.

They had good defense but Morris still got the ball as the clock was running out. She is the only real threat ODU has today.

Icewater for blood on those last four free throws. Absolutely clutch.

Big win and a deserved sendoff for Ogwumike. On a whole, probably a fair split between the two teams. A very even match and probably the two best coaches in the conference.

Rice wins 73-70. Back to back conference champs! Gutty, gutty win with just about everybody contributing.

Erica: 20 points, 5 boards, 2 assists, 2 blocks in 25 minutes. 8-8 from charity stripe to seal the deal at the end.

Mulkey: 12 points, 7 boards, 6 blocks
Smith: 16 points, 3 boards, 2 assists
Schwartz: 14 points, 5 boards
Crosthwait: 11 points, 7 boards, 4 assists

Great win.

Great job keeping the ball out of the hands of Morris on the last possession. Also huge ODU didn’t have a timeout at the end to be able to inbound at halfcourt.

RE: WBB vs ODU
My takeaway is that ODU is a well coached team. Their players were excellent at overplaying #13 and #10 - making them go left in order to impede the offensive flow. She also took advantage of Rice's refusal to play ball denial on ODU's #5.

I don't understand why Rice's #32 is so often at the high post, when only #13 has the ability to consistently drive to the basket in a clear out situation. You can't teach 6' 9" .... While I realize that #32 and #13 played a two person screen and roll on a few occasions, with #23 sliding down to the low post, that doesn't explain the bulk of her time at the high post.

Bottom line, Rice's players were determined to win, and deserve all the credit in the world for capturing a regular season conference championship.

And , that was really clutch play in the final minutes. Well deserved!

Mulkey is 32. Chrisman is 23 and she didn't play today. But I get your points.

Rice was 16 of 16 in free throws.

I really think they need to retire Erica's #13 number and hang it at Tudor starting next year.

That Morris for ODU is really good. Terrific 4q for the ladies-never quit. Smith was terrific after some early awful....

RE: WBB vs ODU
BTW, it appears ODU and WKU are tied for 2nd but ODU should be the 2 seed based on head-to-head games.

MTSU is the 4 seed but could have to deal with 5 seed UAB in a tough quarterfinal game. It appears we will play either Marshall or USM in our first game.

I think the other half of the bracket is tougher with ODU, WKU and Charlotte.

At this point since we won the conference by two games, I would think we'd have a decent shot at an at-large if we get to the conference tournament finals and lose (that would mean we would have just beat probably MTSU or UAB to get to the finals). Anything less than that probably means we're NIT bound.
