You were in a the conference that became the Atlantic Sun prior to joining the SoCon in 1992. And you moved up with App to the Sun Belt in 2014. What i am curious about is how long you have been Division 1? Did you join D1 when you started football back, or was it before then? What are your memories of those football startup years and the years leading up to it?

As far as I know we have always been Division 1. Don't remember much back prior to the 80's but we were in the TAAC prior to the SoCon and then moved up with Appy to the Sun Belt. We started as an independent in I-AA in football until we moved into the SoCon in '92 in all sports. We won an NAIA baseball National Championship in the 60's so maybe we weren't "always" D1.

. . . maybe we should have stayed D2, we seemed to have had some success there. 03-lmfao

The first year the SLC didn't send its champ to the Indy Bowl was UTA's conference championship year. We just missed out on it.

... . . .Oh, and that’s not all you missed out on Boy O. I think that this was the year y’all would have won the SBC Basketball Tournament, and y’all woulda gone Dancing.

Course, we’ll never know for sure. .. . 05-stirthepot
