Looking to next year's schedule
Conference champions. Every player returning. A roster loaded with 3-stars. Abundance of size. Lots of depth.

No high-major in his right mind is going to want to schedule us next season. The trouble is that next year of all years is when we might actually be able to make a little noise on the national scene and stand an outside chance at an at-large IF we could get some meaningful games. Count on them all being on the road. But that doesn't matter. We need to take whatever tough games we can get. You can't win them if you don't schedule them.

He really owes us a visit. That was part of the short lived contract with UNLV.

RE: Looking to next year's schedule
I've seen some coaches on twitter that have embraced Coach Walker including Pacific's coach who has his team 23-9 and 4th in the WCC (Gonzaga's Conference). That might be a matchup to look at.

Maybe the piggies up north might actually play a real game too if they aren't shy.

RE: Looking to next year's schedule
I think the key is getting to the NCAA tournament. People around the country will take notice of an NCAA team with everyone coming back. If that happens we may get invited to a tournament with some "name" schools. Playing them on a neutral court would be the best thing that could happen to us. Now that the "policy" no longer exists, a match-up of Arkansas teams (LR vs UAF) that both went to postseason and will have very good teams coming back would be a natural. It might even be a game that would be picked up by a national network like ESPN. They like a game with a storyline- i.e. the first matchup ever between the 2 schools. Darrell may have to get some help from his friends- I'm sure Penny Hardaway would agree to play us again. Not sure about Patrick Ewing, since he avoided us this year after we took him to overtime the year before. Maybe our old friends, Beard and Moser, might be willing to consider a game. Also there are other very good mid-majors, who face the same problems we do. Mid-to-low majors on the bubble this year include UNI, Utah State, Stephen F. Austin, Furman, and Richmond. They will all have trouble scheduling if they have good teams coming back next year. A home and home with SFA, would make a lot of sense for both schools, if they have a good team coming back. But, again, the key for us will be making the NCAA tournament since we don't have the record of long-term success that schools like SFA and UNI have.

That may end up being our best bet. Look up all the non-power teams that are currently on all the Bubble Watch sites. Yale, Liberty, Stephen F. Austin, Rhode Island, Richmond, Northern Iowa, East Tennessee, St. Mary's, Dayton, SD State, Memphis, Cincinnati, Wichita, Utah State.

Ironically, scheduling probably will be some easier if we do not make the NCAA, even though our team is just as good.

Are we owed return home games from anybody next year? Mo State, Illinois State, etc.? Do we owe a return road game to anybody?

That's a great question and may be the case. But, I really don't know.
