When you go 9-9 in an extremely mediocre league, you have to take what you get.

Exactly, with it being the 1st instance I think a T is extreme, or else every road fan will carry whistles and wait for the right time to blow it and have the home teamed Td up. That said, the KSU player playing the ball stopped due to the whistle, at the very least it should’ve been a jump ball. Calls weren’t too bad earlier in the game but as it went on they got bad, and both ways and the game got sloppy. It was obvious guys were being held to certain minutes, as some players were getting crucial minutes they don’t normally see, but it still feels like we let one slip away they should’ve had and always sucks to lose to the Summit County CC.

RE: Kent State @ Akron
My next day thoughts:
We played well with an overrated team. They should've clobbered us and should have beaten us a few weeks ago.
Overall a really bad basketball game to watch. There was a solid 4 minutes where it was turnover after turnover on both ends. Sloppy.
Did I just spend $5 to park? In the ghetto? Glad we have the Bowman Lot.
Williams needs more passing. He's not Al Fisher.
Maybe 2017 can happen again? I just don't see a Jimmy Hall in any of these guys. Who knows though? I didn't see Jimmy Hall until that weekend in March 2017 either.
The cheerleaders were below us, so I couldn't hear. It only seemed like Akron had two cheers: "Kent State sucks" and "air-ball."
Romeo Travis? Really? That's the best they had? I looked at the banners while I was there. He never even played in an NCAA Tournament game.
I hate going to that gym. Ours isn't heads-over-heels better, but it just reeks of desperation there.
Kudos to the guys that gathered all the KSU fans in one section. That was fun. Let's do that every time!!

Lets hope we have a better game plan against Eastern than last time. That was a terrible game.

RE: Kent State @ Akron
Did anyone hear about Akron's big money making marketing scheme "the golden ticket"? It's a raffle where they sell 700 tickets for $150 a piece. Then the winner gets something like $500, an all expense paid trip to see Akron's terrible football team get destroyed by Clemson (hey you'd get to see a quarter of Trevor Lawrence though!) and I think an all expense paid trip to a road basketball game or something. I believe last night was the last night of the promotion and from what I heard going into the night they'd sold so few tickets they are likely to lose money on it.

That's why I went. This game is almost never a blow-out. Crappy basketball, but always close on the score.
And really... $5???

I got Teched for something similar once. Expect instead of a whistle, it was a brass horn. The difference then is it didn't disrupt the players.

JimJoyce, KSU is the most mediocre team in an extremely mediocre league. They could get blown out Monday, or they could win the tournament. Any of the 12 could win it, and I can't recall that ever being the case before. The MAC will have a champion ONLY because somebody has to win it.

You got a tech as a fan? I honestly can't say I've ever seen that. That seems like a very bad thing for refs to do. But hey, I've seen some pretty bad refs in MAC games. So I guess I can't say it's surprising.

Well from the sound of it at the time not just a fan but also part of the band. There are some additional rules sometimes dealing with the band on top of the standard rules.

The same unsportsmanlike conduct rules apply to fans, cheerleaders, the band, etc. For example, the band cannot play while the game is in play. I've only actually seen a technical foul called on fans in a high school game years ago. It was a tournament game played at what is now the MACC. Fans upset with the calls began throwing coins on the court! It didn't effect the outcome because they only began throwing them after their team was out of it.

I was there on the night a fan came out of the bleachers, onto the playing floor, and went right up to one of the refs. I think it was a Bowling Green game. Nothing happened to the fan and he went back up into the stands. LOOLOLOLOL01-lauramac2

Yes. Fans occasionally throw things on the court and it is almost universally a technical foul.
