When I moved from Houston to Atlanta, I thought, well, at least I will get away from the summer humidity, traffic and mosquitos. I was wrong about 2 out of 3. Atlanta is a forest, so if you camp, you know what that means about mosquitos. As for traffic, I have vowed to never complain about Houston traffic again.

How are you managing to get away from the heat and humidity? I agree it's not QUITE as bad, but it's still pretty bad in Hotlanta.

Atlanta isn't as bad as NY or LA. It may be worse than anywhere else in the US. But tomorrow will make NY and LA look like picnics. They at least have alternate routes.
I ran a trucking company hauling oversized boats and yachts for 15 years. There isnt many places I havent been or sent a truck. Gimme the cross bronx or canal street at 4 pm over Atlanta any day. I5 inbound and anywhere around atlanta are just about a tie. I'll drive 200 miles out of the way to avoid atlanta after 2 pm.

Driving through Atlanta mid afternoon you just need to be very aggressive and not worry about getting the finger or a F-You everytime you put the nose of your truck/car into a gap. Same way with NYC, LA, DC, and Boston, give me a 2 inch gap the bumper of what ever I'm driving is going in it. Stop or hit me, I dont really care, but most people do not want to wreck, so they hit their brakes and let you in. I'm going to shoot gaps till I hit free air.

I see this all of the time a lane is stopped and the right lane is mostly empty because they are merging about a mile up the road. Take that empty right hand lane till you have to merge. Most people are scared they will not get back into the lane that is bumper to bumper for 3 miles. As I said only takes 2 inches and 99.99% of drives dont want to wreck. So they let you in the merge lane. If not there's always a semi with a good gap from the car in front of them

Cuss at me and throw up that finger but I'm going to get free air 15 to 30 minutes earlier .

What was this discussion about in the first place?

The worse driver on the road isnt the one that's aggressive. It's the person that's afraid and causing bumper to bumper. It's the person sitting in the passing lane doing 55 or 70 in a 55 or 70 and backing up cars for miles. Left lane is not a 'fast lane' in most states its a passing lane and you move over for faster traffic. Yes you move over even if you are doing 70 in a 70 and someone else is speeding. Those drivers causes the 3 to 15 car pile ups and I'm getting out of that danger as quick as possible.

But to answer your question...I'M one of them and when I get that finger or F-you. I smile or laugh at them. But only for a second because they are still bumper to bumper....

I got free air and safer for it..

It's about the President being in Atlanta and causing traffic problems. Here's a true story. Western played a NCAA Tourney game in Dayton and President Obama was at the game with Tony Yates (might been some else) I was sitting with in hearing distant from him...I actually told him that if he backed up traffic leaving like he did arriving. That I was going to have to pass them up.

The timid driver is the most dangerous. The overly aggressive ******* is a close second. Regardless, you dont want me a 75' long, 14' wide 80,000 lb load being driven by an overly aggressive ******* and as the owner, I dont want an overly aggressive ******* hauling around million dollar plus exposed cargo.

My insurance company paid out claims that were no fault of the driver, one with a NYC cop and NY state police witness that a car drove into one of my stopped trucks on the cross bronx in traffic, the driver got out of the car and laid in the street half way under the truck. The car had less than $1000 in damage, my truck had none, it was on camera, and the cops refused to write a ticket to my driver. Insurance paid him $75k to go away and my insurance went up $300 a month.

Another accident, caused by an overly aggressive *******, ruptured a fuel tank spilling about 50 gallons of diesel. The driver of the jeep got the ticket after nearly killing himself and totalling a $60k truck. My insurance company paid out over $250k to clean up the diesel spill after Georgia (and maybe city of atlanta, cant remember) came after my company since the asshat obviously didnt have anything to cover that.

We decided to fly to Atlanta and let my son pick us up on his way down to the game. When we landed in Atlanta, I gave my son a quick cell call. "Daddy, Siri isn't making any sense. She says I'm 23 miles from the airport and it will be 2 hours before I get there." I replied, "5 o'clock Friday afternoon on Atlanta. Makes perfect sense." I'm fairly certain my son is going to stay in Tokyo forever, but if he comes back to the states he has made it perfectly clear that he would never live in Atlanta.
Whereabouts on Lake Martin? My parents have a place there and I’m getting married there in May.

Still Waters, east side just north of Blue Creek.

Where they found Pat Dye's pants

Unfortunately I’ve seen enough of Pat Dye in my lifetime.

Nah. I find Atlanta
summers quite pleasant. Sometimes even miss being hot

Happy for you. I really never found Atlanta to be much better. In particular, I've always lived in places around the Houston area where I get good breezes, and Atlanta always seemed dead still to me.

What Atlanta has over Houston is that Atlanta is 1000 feet above sea level.

Yes and that make it less humid and sticky. But I've been in Houston long enough now that I get used to the breeze and miss it when it's not there.
