RE: Temple Game: Senior Night
I would like to share my David Simone-esque (Chad's BCJ sidekick) experience (both in terms of superstition and alcohol consumption).

This was rooted in going out two weeks ago, to Wichita Brewing Company, to watch the WSU game with a buddy. To begin the game, I tried having a WuShock Wheat and a Without a Doubt Stout. It was an effort at ironic karma. It seemed to work, as UC played pretty well in the first half, in a close game.

In the second half, the game tightened up, so I went with an amber and the stout (UC colors red and black). From there, UC closed it out.

I did the same last night. Started the game with a cab (Temple cherry red color), and in the second half, a chocolate-cherry Yeti Imperial Stout (UC black color). It worked again, albeit, sweated it out, all the more. Well, these were much higher in alcohol content than what I had the other week (both over 10% ABV), so slight headache this morning, although not out of hand.

So, I will take credit for the win 03-cloud9 03-drunk You're welcome!

I predict next year you will see a ton of different starting lineups. My guess is Brannen goes with guys who can make/are making shots. I think his goal is to be a legit 10 deep team with a lot of moving pieces. He doesn't like to continually coach from behind because team's can't hit shots.

G. Madsen will start....Book it....04-cheers

Go to the recruiting link and watch video. Mason is lighting it up right now.

Mason off the bench, Gabe will start....04-cheers

Terry Nelson made a point during the game that he would love to see tracked how many times multiple UC defenders go for the block, leaving no one available to grab the rebound afterwards. And I believe he is right, it seems to happens all the time.

I actually think the starting wings will be Keith and Zach. MAW shifts back to PG.

Of course, if Zach doesn't get more assertive, it's definitely up for grabs as something Gabe can very well seize.

He seems to either make a great play or hurt UC with poor shot selection or a turnover. Part of my idea was to get him rest so he can effective at the end of games. He almost won UC the game and lost it in the final minute

Yeah, that would be called resting. You demanded benching. They are very different, but spin away...

They did that 2 years ago when UC ruined their party and beat them 62-61 at down to the wire and the people who actually stuck around for the senior day activities sat there like it was a funeral. Brilliant!

And shocker fans were upset that bearcat players celebrated on the floor after winning the game and the conference championship.

The videos were outstanding.

Bunch of people dressed like bananas sitting there in stunned silence as UC celebrated.

We are too thin in the front court to play Vogt, Diarra, and Eason together even if Eason is capable of playing at the 3. I think Harvey will start.

Agree with this. i think Diarra will have to make a huge leap on the defensive end especially as a post defender and rim protector in order to start, and if he does start it will be over Vogt not alongside him because of the depth issue. No reason to starting thinking about next season until this season ends though...

RE: Temple Game: Senior Night
Don't live in Cincy so i rarely go to the games live but was motivated to go to this one for whatever reason. That first half had me totally regretting that decision. The last 8 minutes made it seem like money well spent. Couple of takeaways:

1) i know that a few posters on here seem to delight in Banter posters criticizing the officiating. it's worse live simply because you pay for that ticket. Needed every point and when they weren't busy awarding a goaltend to Temple, they were taking away and-1s from Keith (who needs every positive play he can get) and calling a 4th foul on Jarron when whatever contact he instigated gave no advantage to him in defending the Temple player. it is awful.

2) The 1-3-1 is awful. Too much pressure on wing defenders to cover the wing and the corners. We already have issues covering corner threes and the 1-3-1 only exacerbates that issue. i get that it helps protect Diarra but he's got to grow up as a defender because he's going to be a key player next season.

3) Vogt needs to play a lot better. i'm not saying bench him. He still offers a lot of rim protection but his offense has been dreadful for several weeks/months now. if he can't contribute buckets and we get down significantly as we seem want to do, Diarra is going to get a lot more playing time if for no other reason than he opens up the lane on offense being able to score from the outside.

4) Finally, i believe Davenport has become lineup announcement hand-shake guy. i was watching the starting lineup announcements and Davenport is the last player that the starters dap and there are unique handshakes for everyone. Wish i had video of that. Don't know if he'll every be a starter but he's got glue guy/fan favorite written all over him.

Agree on the 1-3-1. It’s supposed to be an awkward defense to execute against but I just throw up my hands and say “here comes the barrage of corner 3’s!” Teams have flat out figured it out and punish us for it. If you want to go for a change of pace defense to slow the other team, down- just go to a 2-3 for chrissakes.

This. I know the argument against the 2-3 is that we don’t have the personnel (length/athleticism) for it to be successful but some teams just suck against it (90’s-current Bearcats, for example). Would love to just try it over the 1-3-1 when playing man isn’t effective.

3 of our starters can probably run the matchup zone effectively in their sleep.
