Our fans are some of the biggest power conference fans out there, so why should the ncaa care? Ya'll are watching what they want you to watch.

I played sports and watched sports my entire life, but i quit watching college bball, college fball and the nfl after the 2014 season.

I sort of quit watching tiger bball during josh's last year and that continued through the tubby years, and i still struggle to watch tiger basketball. The ncaa frustrates me on their calls like james wiseman's quick 2 fouls against oregon. I'm telling you right now, those refs were looking to foul him out. I've seen that script a million times. And not only am i frustrated about officiating, i am frustrated by the negativity within the tiger fanbase. Ya'll ***** and whine about everything. It's just not a lot of fun for me.

I quit watching the nba completely this year. After 2014, i was watching grizz only. Now i don't even watch the grizz. I'm not going to go to any more games either. Far as i'm concerned, they can move the team back to vancouver. I saw how the nba treated our "grit and grind" team like the bs suspension to zbo before an important playoff game and the grizz leading the nba in offensive charges, etc. The whole era of super stars grouping up on one team is boring. I also see how the nba has babied lebron james and any team he plays for. If jordan was babied his entire career like lebron, michael jordan would have been twice as good as he already was. I just don't like the nba anymore. It's all about big market teams and stars with commercials getting the calls and preferred treatment from the nba. I'm not going to root for another team, so i quit watching. I'm not going to invest my time and money in watching a scam.

The only thing i still enjoy is tiger football. I just enjoy the season and want to win conference championships. We cant win a national championship, but imo, there is a good side to it. Since we are not a threat to the college playoff, we don't have the ncaa breathing down our backs, because they don't care unless you threatened for a championship.

Back to tiger basketball, the ncaa sees penny as a threat which is why they are ******* with us. He got the #1 class, he could threaten for a championship, and this could have continued, but the ncaa is putting an end to it right now. And instead of sticking together and supporting Penny 100%, we got fans bitching and whining about his coaching ability, etc. I knew this would happen, and i even told a fellow poster here (in a private conversation) that ya'll would turn on penny and then watch more power conferences which is exactly what the ncaa wants.

Nobody has turned on Penny.

It's your loss if you can't enjoy watching the Grizzlies. They are a really good team and tons of fun to watch, not your typical NBA team at all.

Tiger basketball can be very frustrating, yet some of this is legitimately youth. Yes we get shafted by officiating it seems. It's always been that way as long as I can remember going back to Bill Walton.

Tiger football is great right now, I've had season tickets almost all of my life. Sat through and enjoyed many a tough season though.

This basketball season has been tough on Tiger fans but no doubt more on our team and players. They are continuing to fight through tremendous adversity and deserve to be supported regardless however our season winds up.

Again, nobody has turned on Penny. We almost all collectively love him as much as anybody since Larry Finch.

You do know your entire post is pretty much complaining about people complaining?

It's a great time to be a Tiger and Grizz fan.

Amen brother!

We've all been sorely tested this year, perhaps even more than during the dark days the last two coaches put us through. Some have withstood it better than others. I've gone back and forth, up and down for the entire season but I've been a Tiger fan for 40 plus years and that won't change even when I'm at my lowest, bitching and moaning. It's not a true reflection of my fandom and I don't believe that many here who've been right there with me bitching and moaning have given up either, frustration can be an ugly thing but at the end of the day I think we all agree on GTG!

Yep. I’m almost 60 years old and have been a Tiger fan since I can remember. Had season tickets football and basketball for many years. It is frustrating at times but rewarding other times. I’ve learned over the years to always temper my expectations because there are so many variables. I’ve also learned when I’m having negative thoughts not to post them for at least 24 hours. After a nights rest things sometimes look different the next day.

RE: Does the NCAA just kill your fandom?
It’s not the rules from the NCAA that hurt fandom. It is the unequal application of them. If you are an “inside” program, you are protected. If you are trying to get in by your performance, they will kick you back down. A bunch of small people trying to protect their turf...it’s exhausting. Corruption is killing college sports.

Performance is not on par with NBA/NFL obviously, so why do we watch? It’s the hope for the storied year. And it’s a lie. The powers that be don’t want that story. They want Duke, Kentucky, Kansas, and North Carolina in the final 4 every year. They want Bama, Clemson, LSU, Ohio State in the playoffs. They will manipulate rules and punishments to that end and they are destroying college sports because of it.

I save money and time by not going to games or watching sports on tv all weekend long and every night. I don't have to worry about a sports package or even having cable anymore. MY only regret is i wish i had done it earlier. My wife passed away almost 4 years ago, and i wish i had stopped earlier and spent more time with her.

I am truly sorry about your wife, may she rest in peace in the arms and comfort of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

I don't watch SEC or ACC anymore. It's not interesting to me. I have too much to do, and very little free time to care about a team that's hours away from me or has a racist fanbase.

Everyone here acting like we are totally innocent here and being picked on...

That is not true.

A. Penny screwed up by paying the kids Mom to move...Let's not act like it was innocent...Penny paid for his basketball skills

B. The NCAA screwed up by clearing the kid...

C. The NCAA screwed up up again and tried to fix B by deeming the kid ineligible on a technicality

But guess what none of this happens without A...

NCAA took 3 separate events years apart and made something out of it — violations.

Dead on the money. Of course I was just called a TOOL for pointing this out. This all starts with Penny trying to stack his high school team. He was willing to jeopardize a kids eligibility in order to win big at the high school level. That is inexcusable to me. He knew what he was doing and did it anyway, now he has to pay a price (and so doe we) for it. As he deserves.

Post of the year, my friend.

That is not true.

Would his eligibility have been effected if he went to Kentucky? Because that was the plan. Penny had no idea that he would be the coach at Memphis the only year that James would be in college. So don’t make Penny out to look like he didn’t care about the kids eligibility.

The school did nothing wrong...

Penny did nothing wrong in the eyes of the NCAA while he was a high school coach...If he disclosed the paymen, he did nothing wrong as a college coach either.

Sad thing the only person who is held accountable here is Wiseman...The one that would gain the least from the entire situation.

if the Pastner-Tubby-Porter-Rock years haven't killed it, then nothing will.

Well, there is nothing the NCAA can do to a booster other than force the school to disassociate from the booster. But it isn't simply "nothing wrong". That is why you are told as a booster not to do certain things.
