Naama's senior season, Rockets were 27-2 heading to Cleveland, and lost to CMU. Only other losses were to CMU and Dayton (RPI 17). I believe UT was getting votes in the AP poll. No bid. But, the MAC was a much lower rated conference that year - around 18th, and UT's RPI was 50. So, no way the all-knowing committee was gonna give the MAC a 2nd bid.

This season the MAC is 10th, and CMU has a top 20 RPI, so a significantly higher chance they would get a bid even if they lose in the MAC tourney.

Ball St is the 2nd highest RPI at 70, so highly doubtful they could get an at-large bid.

Is Nakiah Black not returning? UT site says 3 seniors, as well as Black, will be honored at NIU game.

Yikes, I hope not. That would be a huge blow for next season.

Cullop did say in the post-game something like they "have had a number of injuries, some we have disclosed and some we haven't." I was hoping that was a reference to Barnes, and not some other ominous thing.

Just listened to the post-game presser, and Cullop said "These 4 seniors are special..." again, yikes.

Fourth senior is one of the managers according to the story. Didn’t say WHY Black was being honored.

I was told that Nakiah will not return next season. She has enough credits to graduate.

That’s too bad. She was maddeningly inconsistent but had an all-round game.

RE: WBB vs. CMU
She had multiple injuries over the years, including a redshirt year in junior college, plus she is graduating, so maybe it makes sense to move on. We will definitely miss her on the court. I'm worried about next year. We have two proven, quality MAC-level players returning - Lockett and Beacham. Beyond that it's a hope and a prayer. Davis, Wiard, and some others are going to have to step up in a big way.

We could use a grad transfer Center and a true backup pg to emerge. I don't know anything about next year's class who will be able to contribute.

Talk about turnover... That's 4 starters from this season all gone.

That is a really challenging looking bench. Not one of those players have demonstrated the capacity to play effectively at MAC level. On top of that MME is a work in progress and Beacham and Davis have not instilled confidence for major minutes until their senior years. Wow! Lockett and Wiard will have to make major improvements in their games and one or two freshmen will have to make major contributions for this team to be competitive. No injuries permitted. No leave eariys. No one whose game goes backyard from the previous year.

That starting five is VERY short. One six footer, a 5-10 forward and three guards. The incoming class had better be ready to contribute from day one.

Is it me or do both of our BB teams this year look oddly identical? Very inconsistent, NO BENCH, a good amount of scholarships seem to be unproductive? Going nowhere fast? Future is ok but not bright! Just saying...

CMU isnt very big. If we play a certain style we can work around it. Beachum plays stronger than her size and is way quicker than other bigs in the MAC.

Our team who went to the dance was 5'7 Boyd, 5'6 Santucci, 5'10 Jay Ann, 6'2 Kayla, 6'0 Janice. Woody was decent size off the bench. Olivia Cunningham, St. Fort and Rok were the other contributers.

Early on the WBB. bench looked good. Beachum, Barnes, Rokkanen, Wierd -injuries took a tole. The men, even with Bizeau weren’t seeing much production.

Well that's a harsh way to come down from the excitement of last night's win. Is she retiring, or maybe pursuing a grad transfer. I've heard Notre Dame is terribly interested in adding players, as due to transfers and injuries, they were down to 7 healthy players at one point - and that included a walk-on they gave a scholly to. ND has played UT twice with Black, so McGraw knows her game. Just speculating, but there have been a lot of MAC WBB players go to power conference schools as grad transfers in recent years.

OU doesn't start a player over 5'11 and it works out fine for them.

RE: WBB vs. CMU
Next year's class is:

Caily Bolser, 6'4 or 6'5, looking like maybe a stretch 5, as reports are she can hit the three at least on occasion.
Khera Goss, 5'10 or 5'11 all court player, although it's been reported her offense is a little behind her defense/rebounding game at this point
Halle Idowu, 5'11 or 6'0, also an all-court player, but maybe has more developed offensive skills at this point than Goss
Mickayla Perdue, 5'8, big time scorer in HS, scoring over 40 several times, recruiting sites list her as PG, but my guess is she will be a 2 guard if she can score like she did in HS
We also have Yani Curry coming off her Achilles injury. Listed as 5'9. Don't know much about her game, except Cullop has said she really likes how she plays.

So, my guess at the depth chart for next year right now is:
1 Wiard, Johnson
2 Davis, Perdue, Copeland
3 Lockett, Barnes, Curry
4 Morgan-Elliott, Idowu, Goss
5 Beacham, Lance, Bolser

5 freshmen, 5 sophomores, 1 junior, 3 seniors. Hopefully at least one of the freshmen will step up and contribute big right away. There's also room now for a grad transfer or juco if Cullop can find one.

Davis is the wildcard. If she can raise her game and keep the turnovers and forced shots under control, she can make a major impact.
