Regular Season Baseball Tournament
https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/...t-in-2021/

Quote:Next year, on the first weekend of conference play, the American will put on a pair of four-team, round-robin tournaments hosted by Central Florida and South Florida. The tournaments will count as conference games and, over the next seven weeks, the teams will play conventional three-game series, giving them a total of 24 conference games. How the teams will be divided into pods for the opening weekend tournaments has not yet been decided but will involve a formula to help balance the fields.

Yes this sounds remarkably fair. No way this will benefit the hosting schools.

Sounds like a good way to make sure everyone plays everyone else.

Similar to the tri-meets or invitationals that track, swimming and wrestling do.

Regular Season Baseball Tournament
Cougar fans should remember this throwback...

Quote:The scheduling format is a throwback to the Southwest Conference First Pitch Tournament, which the now defunct league played in 1995 and 1996 to solve a similar scheduling issue

RE: Regular Season Baseball Tournament
The is dumbest thing ever, we will have 8 baseball teams next year. If we need to play 9 or 10 conference series all we have to do is have home and home series with teams.
Example Each team plays the teams in their division twice (home and home series) and cross over teams once. This gives you 10 series for each team.
EAST DIVISION
Cincinnati
ECU
UCF
South Florida

WEST DIVISION
Memphis
Tulane
Houston
Wichita State

If we want to make it a 9 series season then just do the divisions with a rotating schedule so you would play just two teams in you division twice and have it rotate every year.

EAST DIVISION
Cincinnati: 2021 (ECU x2, USF x2, UCF x1) then 2022 (USF x2, UCF x2, ECU x1)
ECU: 2021 (UC x2, UCF x2, USF x1), etc
UCF
South Florida

WEST DIVISION
Memphis
Tulane
Houston
Wichita State

The conference really over thought this whole thing. Right now with 9 teams scheduling has been an issue as everyone has to have an open date, so it should actually be easier next year not harder. If they really wanted to solve the problem we would add VCU for all sports, and then Dallas Baptist for baseball. That way basketball would have 12 and baseball would have 10. Football with 11 can stay as it is until we decide to either add someone for football only or a full invite. If it is football only then all the other sports will be fine, if it is full sports then just add Dayton to get to 14 in basketball. Basketball scheduling next year is going to suck as well. Shocked we have not added VCU already
