Whatever happened to "let em play" tournament officiating?

Don't lose focus. These guys will not quit. Don't be satisfied with the 12 point lead. Love the defensive pressure. They have not been able to deny the Bucs space to drive.

Good win. I would have preferred by 30. Looking back over the VMI schedule, nobody really beat up on them — several close loses. Looks like they played everyone to the very end of every game confirming their never quit playing style all season. Now, looking ahead, my uninformed opinion — to win this thing will depend mostly on our DEFENSIVE play?

Yes defense wins games. Offense comes and goes but we have the ability to really lock down teams with defense. Go Bucs!

Much better and more complete than either of our regular season efforts. Hope that carries over. Best Jeromy since his return. Great Pun game. Terrific Hugley first half. Fine from Daivien and Tray. Bo Struggled offensively but solid defensive game. Hard to post into a smartphone from a stadium seat.

It’s great to see those East Tennessee jerseys getting plenty of wear this season.

Yessir! I didn't realize davien was our leading scorer until after the game

We have a tiger by the tail. They are pumped up. We WILL have to play better than we did today.

I would be prepared to use up all of my post player’s fouls against Western Carolina’s beast mode. If he beats us from the line, so be it. Hack a Shaq again.

Forbes will have a plan, but I wouldn't mind seeing us press WCU more this game. We have the depth, and that could give Dotson less time to set up and get the ball worked into him down low, and WCU has been turnover prone anyway.

Western scores and rebounds extremely well: 1st in the SoCon and 19th in D1 in points per game, and 1st in the SoCon and 41st in D1 in rebound margin at 5.1.

But they generally defend poorly and turn the ball over a lot:
8th in the SoCon and 298th in D1 in points allowed, and last in the SoCon and 308th in D1 in turnover margin with -3.72 in conference.

So limit the damage in scoring and rebounds, and make them pay for their weaknesses on defense and in turnovers.

Last time out against WCU we failed to make our shots, shooting a FG% of .375. Our only worse performance was the loss to Mercer. The Bucs average .459 from the field in conference and rank 33rd in D1! And WCU allows an average of .431 from the field!

We also posted our 3rd worst rebounding margin of the year with -7. We average +3.5 in conference.

Play 40 minutes of Buc basketball with fire and confidence and things WILL go better.

PS, should things go well early, do not make the mistake that UNCG did against Chattanooga. Keep the pedal to the metal.

Great start. Guys look supremely confident out there. Clearly the better team. Dotson has assaulted 2 of our guys and gotten away with it. Bo playing about as good as he’s ever played so far.

Watching the Bucs from the Des Moines airport. Folks up here were shocked to see Norther Iowa lose. Been wearing my “E” hat with pride. I’m going to mark my seeding guess at a 9 seed.

This place is 90% ETSU fans.

A western player’s gonna take a swing here late. Calling it now.
