He was celebrating a big basket like most every player does but it looked like be inadvertently bumped elbows with a BG player (who didn't seem offended). He may have said something but the ref that called it didn't appear to be super close so my assumption is he felt he was taunting the BG player.

The reason I wanted to mention it is while I feel the ref was being over sensitive and the game wasn't getting chippy, this was probably a result of the reputation Pippen and this team have earned. I like that be plays with passion and energy but he needs to be careful especially since emotions will be running high every game from this point on.

If you saw replay he leaned towards player he dunked on and got close to his face and said something. and yes i'm sure his reputation doesn't help him. but once again your 4th year here. act like you've been there before.

As for Williamson its usually weed, women or schoolwork. But once again on senior day. Embarassing to whole program.

RE: BGSU @ Kent State
Senderoff said the suspension was by the university for a violation of university policy and not by him.

Meanwhile, it seems that Beck has been gradually playing better and better. They will need him next year, and even the rest of this year depending on the status of a few players, health-wise and otherwise. Senderoff says that Simons has been subpar due to a cold or flu.

I see that Castillo was not in the box score. I can see him not returning.

Is this another way to say if it were up to Senderoff, no one would ever be suspended, regardless of infraction?

If so, that says a lot in itself.

AS I recall this was a policy LaingK started, taking off-court discipline out of the hands of his head coaches.

I feel like without knowing what the infraction was it's unfair to call out Sendy.

Perhaps.

But this is the second straight year we’ve suffered through the embarrassment of a senior going through senior night ceremonies only to then sit out for undisclosed, non-injury reasons. It is completely fair and within our right as fans and alumni to call into question the type of player representing us.

Embarrassment to who exactly? Williamson? Nobody outside of KSU fans or BG fans who actually paid attention even know about it.

He is not the first to be suspended for off court activities, and he wont be the last. Every Kent coach in the last 20 yrs has had a player or players with off court issues. Goes with the territory. I am not saying I like it, but that is the way it is in college sports these days. They are 19-20 year old kids, who can't or won't think past tomorrow.

RE: BGSU @ Kent State
Akron had a player seriously hospitalize a teammate by punching him in the face during a practice last season. They had a player get ejected and suspended for bumping a ref a few weeks ago. Not justifying whatever Williamson and Walker (last year) have done but as far as player actions embarrassing the program we're looking good compared to our friends down the road.

Side note. A funny sign to make for Friday would be 'John Groce's office wall: "It's been [447] day's since our last teammate on teammate assault."'

Either that, or a picture of Groce and Tyler Cheese that says "Every rat needs his Cheese". Those are free ideas for any sign making Kent fan heading to the game on Friday.

It really IS college basketball these days. Sure, a coach could recruit ONLY players that are low-risk and low-maintenance, but we wouldn't like the won-loss record.

Also ... and this is no small issue. What is deemed 'violation of team rules or violation of school policy' at one institution may be (and most often is) completely different from one school to the next.

Three strikes and out for weed at one school could be three strikes and rehab at another ... ditto for any other typical infraction. The NCAA has no uniformity on rules .... until the NCAA Tournament.

I don't know what kind a person or student C.J. is. And I don't know if the infraction is something serious. Listening to Senderoff, it appears it wasn't. But, the list of players going way, way back that have represented the university very well is a very long one. So long that I won't even begin to list them. On the whole, we as Kent State fans have been fortunate.

Didn't Dambrot let Quincy Diggs come back after a year in counselling or something for a pretty serious domestic violence incident? I think he's the one that hit his GF in the head with a plate.

They also had a player (maybe Abreu) who was busted by the Feds for a seriously large quantity of drugs being shipped/distributed. That made national news.

RE: BGSU @ Kent State
Have not had a chance to post since the game but I have some strong opinions in case anyone is interested. First, the criticism of Senderoff for the last few games is unwarranted. IMO, this is the most difficult team to coach of almost any team that I remember us having. It is not due to a lack of talent. This may be the most athletically gifted team that we have had in a long time. It is due to individual players being team challenged. I have said many times that we can beat anyone or lose to anyone. It depends upon the players, not the coach. We played arguably the best team in the Conference with two very important players on the bench. Sendy did a coaching job the very few will appreciate. We are lucky to have him. Imagine where we could be if certain players would have played where they were needed and under control. Sometimes, coaching only goes so far. I think that deep down Sendy really loves this team. This team was built for peak achievement for this year not next year. We are still in a position to fail or be successful for this year.

As for Williamson, I am guessing that his career at Kent is finished. There are certain things that happen that goes beyond what a coach, athletic department, or university can change. I am sure that there will be leaked info at some time but I am not going to add to it at this time. My source may not be accurate and it is a unconfirmed, single source.
