Walker has pretty well convinced me he can recruit and coach. When you are picked to finish 11 out of 12, and finish first, you have to be Sun Belt Coach of the year. And remember he was very short handed until semester. Great job Darrell. Ex-pigs can coach after all.

Yep. Superb job coaching so far this year. And even if we don't do well post-season you can't take that away from him. I saw nothing last season that had indicated this. Then next season we will see how well he does with a bull's eye on his back, and if he can repeat the recruiting.

And if he does all that, then we will find out if he will stick with us, or bolt and run.

Agree with you 100%. I certainly had my doubts going into this season. If Darrell is sincere when he says he has no interest in other jobs, this will be the best hire we ever made (thank you Chancellor Rogerson). Not saying it's necessarily better than Joe Foley, but a successful men's program is key for athletic program.

Too bad Chasse couldn't stick it out here for another year. He would have had a pretty nice resume of successful coaching hires with Beard and Walker, if he wanted to move up a level. I just checked on Texas Rio Grande Valley and they are under .500 in both men's and women's basketball. So even though he's young, it may take a little while to move up from that program (which I view as a step down).
