It says fall and winter sports participants need to announce their transfer intent by May 1. It then says this: "In order to transfer and be eligible, athletes must also leave their previous school academically eligible...". Hmm, I could see a situation where Johnny StudDefensiveTackle or Jimmy AboveTheRim are in good academic standing all year but then suddenly fail all of their finals (all held or graded after May 1) and thus are not eligible to transfer because they are no longer academically eligible. Then, next fall (once it is too late to transfer) they are suddenly academically eligible again because they took 40 credit hours during summer school! Outlandish, yes, but I could see numerous schools (especially P5) doing nonsense like this. That is why the whole system needs to be blown up and rebuilt again.

....and then there's the part about being eligible to enroll in school with a 0.0 GPA for the semester. Might be a little tricky to get 40 hours of transfer credits. It wouldn't be a situation that I'd recommend

I think at some point there's a fixed number of roster spots. You might see some more player movement, but only for the top end of players? It might also lead to players who need the 3-4 years of development ending up at mid-majors and playing out their time there.

RE: Possible New Transfer Rules for Next Year
What we have learned from the current Tribe 7 experience is that the athletes also put a priority in the relationships with other players and the team spirit. For MBB few will move on to play pro but making the NCAA March Madness experience i think is important. Think Fischer will help get that monkey off our back.

Pierce was going to UNC and Audige was gone regardless of who had coached.

IMO the transfer rule will probably help us more than hurt
