Hottest teams in the league...
One streak well end in Mobile, Tuesday night, when TxSt visits USA in a battle for second place. Texas State is 13-6, USA is 12-7, and GaSou is 12-7. GaSou plays ASU, at home, so you would expect them to win. I would like for Texas State and USA to meet again in the first round in New Orleans, so we only have to beat one of them. Not sure how the tie-breakers would work out and I'm too tired to figure it out right now. But, at first glance, it looks like Texas State, USA, GaSou, or GaState could all potentially finish in the 4 spot. Of course, the 4th place finisher still has to win a game (at home) to get to New Orleans. It's nice not to have to sweat it out and just enjoying watching other teams battle it out to get to New Orleans.

Hottest teams in the league...
Couple of weeks ago coach Walker was asked on his radio show about their schedule if the got the 1 or 2 seed. He has a plan for practices, a scrimmage game with refs, and travel plans. He is prepared

According to folks on the Sun Belt message board, if USA beats TxSt, USA will be second. Texas State third, and GaSou fourth. That would set-up a likely wild GaSou vs GaSt matchup, at Southern, to determine who we play.

RE: Hottest teams in the league...
I’d like to see USA take the 2nd spot just so we can possibly watch the Georgia schools play each other in a quarterfinal and possibly see USA vs TxSt in the other semi. Whatever the case, it still going to take a lot of effort to win this tourney!

TXST can finish no worse than 3rd. So the only place possible for TXST/LR to meet is the championship game. 4 seed will be either USA, GS, or GSU.

Pretty simple for us: if we beat USA we're the 2 seed. If we lose we're the 3. Doesn't matter what happens in GS game.

I'll tell you right now that Texas State is the last team I want to meet in the finals.

Thanks for that info. Avoiding TxSt, until the final, is a good thing for us. If Georgia Southern beats ASU, as expected (except things never go as expected on the last day of the season in this league) they will clearly be the 3 seed if TxSt wins. If USA wins and GaSou wins, a 3-way tie results in USA at 2, TxSt at 3, and GaSou at 4. If GaSou loses to ASU, and GaSt beats LR, GaSt finishes 4th and GaSou 5th. I think I got it.

GaSou obviously has a ton of motivation to beat ASU. Just the small matter of playing arch rival GaSt at home vs. on the road. I've learned to expect the unexpected in this league, so an ASU win wouldn't shock me. I have no clue what will happen when we play GaSt tomorrow night. Our guys have clinched first place. Does that mean we don't play with the "edge" we would need to beat a good GaSt team? Or does playing without any pressure on us help us pull out a win.

In this case I don't think we will have much of a let-down. We will be looking to verify that we are the best heading into the tournament, and GSU would be one of the main challengers.

A win would also significantly decrease the chances of a rematch 11 days later. However, with the possibility of a rematch, does Darrell hold some things back in this game? On other hand, we certainly want to keep our momentum and don't want to have a loss to think about for 11 days.

Sorry I keep lurking and adding on, hope y'all don't mind.

I know you guys don't want to look ahead but NCAA tourney seeding is also a reason that game matters. Most projections have LR as a 15 seed, but I'm assuming a 14 is still reasonable if you were to win out.

Glad to have your input. Yes, a 14 would definitely be better than a 15.
