MyBB Ironically, turnovers won the game for us.
Tulane’s 3 straight turns in overtime won the game for us. And what a game from Precious!

I wouldn't say ironically.

We commit far too many ourselves, but our defense usually creates a ton too.

Most likely the player of the year type of game for Precious. But if Tulane could hit just 20% from three the game may have had a different outcome.

2 of the 3 Tulane turnovers in that stretch were forced

We had so many stretches of unforced errors

That is fixable

And yes, should be more fixed by now

But... if we hit 50 percent from 3 it's a blowout. See how that works?

No, our defense doesn’t. That’s the problem.

We turn it over a ton on offense and don’t force turnovers.

That’s why we’re gonna be an NIT team and not an NCAA team.

Actually, Memphis is 44th in forcing opponent turnover. Tied with the Dookies. Full disclosure - 44th isn't bad, but it's down from 11th last season.

We play tough defense. That’s normally not the issue. Had we not turned it over 24 times, it wouldn’t have been a game. We beat them pretty handily in several statistical categories. However, despite only shooting 28% from the field, Tulane took 22 more shots than us due to our astronomical amount of turnovers.

You can always 'what if' a game & see things that if taken in isolation to everything else that it might have made a difference. Things to consider in this game, we had 2x Tulane's RBs, we shot 74% FTs but Tulane's shot 79%. We had 24-25 TOs to Tulane's 10, Tulane had 10 steals. TOs seem to be our consistent problem & likely have led to most of our losses. Just don't understand why we aren't getting consistent improvement by this late in the season. But we won. It gets harder from here.

If we only turned the ball over 15 times it would have been a blow out... Not how it happened so who cares Captain Gloom.

And if a frog had wings he wouldn’t bump his azz every time he jumped.

12% is beyond terrible. But 20%'s still poor shooting and far below their normal 33.5% average.

Good defense does that to teams...
