To my friends from days past ...

It seems like yesterday we were arguing about the ASun, the coach, the small crowds, the dome ... you remember. My less than stellar "popularity" rating on here is a reminder that some folks back then didn't appreciate my posts about the need to move back to the Southern Conference.

I'm convinced those years in the ASun were a terrible mistake and I'm thankful those days are past and we're enjoying a new age of serious division 1 sports.

Back in those days, I was married, skinny, dark-haired and arguing with the sports editor of the local paper, who was convinced the move to the ASun would lead to glory days for the Bucs.

It's good to see you guys still around. I do more reading than posting these days, but I take in every work you write.

I guess I don't have anything to complain about these days.

It's hard to believe where we are right now. These are the good ole days. Thanks to folks like you and the others who fought for ETSU athletics. Some of us knew things weren't great in the not-so-distant past, but did have the blinders on to a certain extent. It's amazing how new leadership changed the culture, and has gotten us into a position to thrive like never before. This is a great time to be a Buc.

I would echo all of this and want to again thank Dr. Noland for being our President and for everything he has done. Thank you.

kevster I'd like to add that I remember your name a lot from the days of Kennesaw fans hassling you! I'd also echo bucfan81 that you all are very lucky with your President, just in the same way Mercer is with President Underwood. Kevster, don't worry because I've added plenty of gray hair myself.

Thanks Fan, Mercer, and old friends. It is a great time to be a Buc. My new E hat just arrived from Amazon today.

Man, those Kennesaw fans HATED me. I couldn't help myself. I just couldn't believe we were in a conference with Kennesaw State - which wasn't much more than a junior college at the time.

I just looked for fun: Out of 353 teams in Division 1 basketball, Kennesaw is now # 349. That gave me a great laugh.

Honestly though, Mercer, how can Kennesaw be THAT bad? They're ranked below Houston Baptist, Incarnate Word and ... gulp ... USC Upstate. Speaking of Upstate, I couldn't believe it when they were added to the ASun. I believe they had been a junior college the year before.

Had we been in the Southern during the ASun years, it would have been scary. Whatever happened to that terrible coach we had? The first game I saw him coach scared me to death. He literally handed Cincinnati the win. I gathered a big group to watch the game at Baileys in Knoxville, and couldn't believe we lost that game.

lol. Geesh. Sorry for the rant. But I smiled as I wrote it.
