Due to the virus I bet alot of coaches that should be fired won't because the process of hiring a new coach would be a "hassle" in todays climate.

Disagree. With no tournament going on, bringing guys in would be done via private planes not commercial,so not a big deal. It may cost a tad more to interview lots of people, so the number of interviewees may be down, but with the added time of no tournament, I suspect there will be plenty of coaching movement.

Pitino to Iona is interesting. JMU fans were mocked at him being a potential option, but Iona is below the CAA. I am betting his salary ended up pretty low due to his toxicity.

Regardless if he plays by the rules, he is a good coach. With that said, you would hope the NCAA will give him some kind of punishment as far as suspension or show cause penalty. So there is a chance this is all a PR move and he never coaches there except by title. Regardless, the MAAC's top school are willing to spend pretty big money for their coaches. Interesting that the CAA has not followed.

Quote:the 67-year-old is coming back to the States, agreeing to a five-year contract that reportedly will pay him slightly less than the $1.1 million per year Cluess made.

Not sure how Cluess compares to other MAAC or mid major coaches, but he is one of the best mid-major coaches in the country.
