NU baseball returns to Florida this weekend to play in the Snowbird Classic.

All four games with be streamed live on Flosports.com.

Here are the projected starters for NU ...

Friday, Feb. 28th vs Villanova at 3 pm.
RHP Kyle Murphy (1-1, 3.86 ERA) vs. VU's RHP Jimmy Kingsbury (1-1, 4.38 ERA)

Saturday, Feb. 29th vs St. Louis at 11:30 am.
RHP Sam Jacobsak (1-1, 2.08 ERA) vs. SLU's LHP Mark Finkelnburg (1-0, 1.86 ERA)

Saturday, Feb. 29th vs Eastern Michigan at 3 pm.
TBD vs TBD

Sunday, March 1st vs Eastern Michigan at 11 am.
RHP Sebastian Keane (1-1, 9.00 ERA) vs. TBD

Wednesday, March 4th vs Western Michigan at 1 pm.

Yeah, NU has pitched awesome in Florida so far. Really like our freshman's arms.

Tough game coming up with Western Michigan midweek and then a series at FAU, a team that swept NU last year.

That was a sweet sweep at Kentucky by UNCW last weekend. UK is down, but nevertheless its an SEC sweep.

NU was supposed to play a series at UK last year, but it fell through. Glavine had set it up since they were one of a handful of teams who whined about being left out of the NCAA's in 2018 when NU got the at-large bid.

NU went 4-0 last week at the Snowbird Classic in North Port, Florida.

Friday:
NU came from behind to beat Villanova 7-4. Kyle Murphy gave up a 3-run HR in the 1st inning but then shut down the Wildcats to get the win (7 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 4 BB and 9 K's).
NU was down 3-2 when they scored 3 runs in the 8th and 2 in the 9th to win.
Ian Fair went 3-5 and Teddy Beaudet (HR), Jared Dupere and Kyle Peterson had 2 hits apiece.

Saturday:
Game 1 of a DH, NU beat St. Louis 5-4.
Sam Jacobsak was great again but got an ND (6 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 9 K). David Stiehl got the win in relief after he blew a 4-2 NU lead to tie the game at 4-4.
NU scored a run in the 7th and Owen Langan got the save (2 IP, 2 K).
Jared Dupere went 3-4 w/RBI and Ian Fair went 2-4 w/RBI.

Game 2, NU beat Eastern Michigan 6-1.
Freshman Cam Schlittler was great in his 1st college start. He got an ND going 6 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 6 K.
NU was down 1-0 before tying the game in the 7th and then scored 5 in the 8th to win.
Dupere 2-4 w/RBI, Fair 2-3 and Spenser Smith 2-4 w/RBI led the offense.

Sunday:
NU got 18 hits to hammer E. Michigan 17-7.
Sebastian Keane got the win (5 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 10 K)
Scott Holzwasser went 2-5 w/4 RBI and Dupere went 1-4 w/3B, 4 RBI
Jeff Costello and Teddy Beaudet had 3 hits apiece.

Interesting. Let me guess, UK backed out because they knew they wouldn't be good in 2019? They ended up going 26-29 with only 7 SEC wins. They look like they'll be even worse in 2020.

We're still thrilled with how our team performed in the sweep. Solid in all three aspects of the game.

I was worried after getting destroyed by an Alabama team predicted to be mediocre in the SEC, but maybe they are actually good, looks like they haven't lost yet. Really nice to see us rebound and go on this winning streak.

NU looks to extend its winning streak to eight games tomorrow when they play their final game of the Snowbird Classic vs Western Michigan.
