Just divide the country down the middle and the Left can mismanage one side all they want, we'll live in the other. I accept our artistic venues will probably be inferior to theirs-they'll have most of the artsy-fartsy Hollywood types and musicians afterall. But we'll have balanced budgets, stronger currency, law and order and maximum personal freedoms-uninhibited by Big Brother in Washington DC.
That's a situation I can live with.
Overall I question if administrations with a rightist bent do better with the economy and deficits. Now if we say conservative you may be right, but you’d be hard pressed to find many of those among our current political spectrum.
In general I’ll take competent qualified academic approaches every day of the week. What they lately call the “dark state.” Ha ha

He can't have a civil discussion, he can't accept anyone of other beliefs has an opinion-it's his way or the highway. If you disagree with him, you are not entitled to express a point of view.
Look at this, I make a simple post in this thread and it so enraged him he has to insert 3-4 attack posts and an attempted character assassination. All this over a few simple comments I made that weren't even directed at him.
Someone has deep anger and intolerance issues.
I relish discussion and debate and love the free exchange of divergent views, but when it turns into name-calling and vitriol that's where I draw the line. I've Blocked Charm City Bronco because he can't have a civil discussion without becoming uncivil. Regretful, but necessary.
It's always fresh and amazing when people who wantonly admit on a bbs to performing anti-social behavior in real life act outraged that people call them on this behavior that they would never admit to people IRL. Do you tell your wife and family members and colleagues that you email 20 year old kids who happen to attend your alma mater and complain to them about the editorial bent of their news outlet? The nicest and most civil thing I can call you is a loser.
Which is exactly what you are--a loser. It has never crossed my mind to criticize a 21 year old for anything. Mainly because I'm too busy having an actual life and my ego is clearly not as big as yours.
But you go ahead, you go and act like your ilk and act like you're the real victim here. Get on with your butthurt about how you're the one who's been afflicted.
Because that is what you are--a perpetual victim...and a loser.

Yes, you are so virtuous & righteous. You only harass and act like a ******* to those over the age of 21. Congrats to you! You are such a hero
Today WMU had a Facebook post with 20 student orientation leaders holding a sign saying 'Welcome to WMU' for new students in the fall.
Only 1 was white.
It's going to be harder & harder for the school to pull from the non-Chicago non Detroit areas if they celebrate diversity but neglect the white market. Not because whites are racist, not because whites and other colors are different, but because it's a sign that the school's more interested in political narratives than education.
I live in GR. Grand Valley St doesn't do stuff like that. What do you know, GVSU's kicking our butt in enrollment.
Good luck pulling those students more interested in an education, Western, because you're not gonna get them.
Want the best for the school, will celebrate anyone who attends, want as many who can attend to attend, and we are all united Bronco Nation. Just not sure the school's approaching it the best way from a marketing perspective.

Under this condition whites, especially white males, feel their opinion is the only opinion that is correct and appropriate. They become defensive and angry. They cannot believe the POC does not understand their view. They feel their assessment is more likely to be correct.
Under this cultural misogyny’s influence they are unable to even hear the expression of fact. The POC has simply stated the actual effect the appropriation has on them. They are the expert. They are telling you how they feel. In the presence of that input, White Privilege cannot absorb the idea that would even matter. Especially if the POC is female.
Then more mansplaining, lecturing, ridicule. Etc.
Take a deep breathe. This young women shared her viewpoint with you. Try just accepting that as true for her and a valid expression she was willing to share. She has no obligation to update your social development, this was simply her gift to you. Be grateful. Try to relax and enjoy life.
There is also something called "white guilt". If you haven't read anything from Shelby Steele, or who she is, you should. It has been a while since I have, but he has tremendous credibility, and gives tremendous presentation to the issue.

I think the GVSU - WMU enrollment angle is just not really based on facts. GVSU has done a great job of building up their enrollment - no doubt! But we know (based on data provided by WMU) the #1 reason far away why WMU's enrollment is declining is because of MSU - not GVSU. Nearly a quarter of WMU's entire class of prospective students (22%) end up in East Lansing. Only 8% of them end up at GVSU. Even GVSU is facing enrollment decline the last two or three years as less and less high school students are graduating. WMU has to find a way to cut into the large amount of people that end up at MSU and view WMU as a backup school - and I'm not sure that has anything to do with a social media graphic that doesn't have enough white people.

1 gained 8,000 while 1 lost 8,000. WMU has always been a back-up option to MSU rejects, now more and more are turning to GVSU as a back up. The idiotic things WMU is doing like Bronco14 pointed out will further the separation.

Just like I said - GVSU has done a great job of building their enrollment. It's a very shiny new object with nice new dorms, nice campus, etc. But your claim that "more and more" students are turning to GVSU as if there is some mass exodus of would-be WMU students is just not backed up by the facts and data.
I'm also not sure why that graphic is seen as "idiotic", tbh. I saw it yesterday, looked at it briefly, and kept scrolling and went about my day, never to give it another thought until I saw this thread. If a student from Holland doesn't want to come to WMU because they think there's too many brown people in a social media post and GVSU offers a more "white" campus - then shame on them.
Seriously, who the hell cares what race students in an orientation photo are. I'm surprised anyone even noticed or gave it a second thought. The right is something else.

I'm on right. My friends are many colors and nationalities. Many are conservatives. Not all. Haven't always voted for Republican candidates. When my kids date and marry, I'm more concerned about the person's heart and mind. My kids don't see color, which many on the left believe is wrong. Unfortunately extremists on both sides of the political spectrum plague us all. Your statement
about the right is sophomoric.
