And for GCU. Who, by the way, sent yet another email offering free all session passes. They must really want a crowd.

I should now enroll in a minimester course online at GCU.

Bakersfield has got me really nervous for our Saturday game. I know we got GCU tonight. Always tough place to play and always the chance to hand us a L. But the way Marjllleeleel has been talking lately seems like the Lopes don’t have that same fire as past years. Any Lope fans wanna offer any insight to the feeling around campus regarding the team?

I think most of us who hang around here are old farts with little-no connection to the "on campus" vibe at GCU. I will say that most of the Boomers I run with (myself included) are ready for the 2020-2021 season, if that is any indication.

Why does Cal Baptist play on Wednesdays and everyone else on Thursday?

I suspect since CBU doesn't have a travel partner this is a way to compensate them and level the playing field. By playing Wednesday and Saturday it gives them more time to rest between games. They are required to play two games in a week; while their opponents only play one game each against CBU within the week.

RE: WAC Basketball week 17 (WAC week 9)
Well, NMSU is two games away from running the table in the WAC. I don't think GCU's roster is built to beat NMSU this year. Although, I think GCU will have one more crack at NMSU in the WAC tournament to prove me wrong; that's if my Aggies don't have a let down. Alessandro Lever is a good offensive-minded center but his lacks the defensive presence and rebounding prowess to stop a team like NMSU. I think GCU needs a "Grandy Glaze" or "Keonte Vernon" type forward to play along side Lever to do all the dirty, blue collar, work in the paint. If Gabe McGlothan can be that type of power forward next season, GCU might be a real contender next season. But for now, NMSU (like most years) appears to be the class of the WAC.

With eight days left in the regular season, the fight for the 2 seed remains... The Cal Baptist/Seattle U game and the Grand Canyon/UT Rio Grande Valley game will be the games to watch today. UM Kansas City can move up into the mix but they will need to have a very good road trip next week.

UMKC today is likely playing its last game ever against Chicago St. The team it has played more than another since joining Division 1. Chicago ST is responsible for our biggest crowd and biggest heartbreak. It is also Senior Day.

I hope that CSUB continues some home and home games with former WAC teams once they leave.

No way I want us to play in that tiny $hithole on that disgusting court. If CSUB wants to play us they need to come to the Pan Am

CBU clinches 2nd place in the WAC on a Milan Acquaah jump shot at the buzzer in OT, 88-87. Acquaah also clinched POY with the game winning shot. He ended up with 27 points and 7 assists.

New Mexico State a total domination of the WAC. The Aggies are playing at another level right now especially on defense.

Another player who is coming on strong as of late is UTRGV's Lesley Varner II. If there is still a WAC POTY race, Varner is in the mix now.

Varner has been impressive of late, but still not as good as Acquaah. Varner is averaging 17.3 points and 1.6 assists per game in conference. Acquaah is averaging 18.9 points per game and 5.0 assists per game in conference. I think Acquaah will be the POTY.

I guess the more interesting question is if Jans will be the Coach of the Year for a third consecutive season. He should be the favorite, but I think Rick Croy of CBU is probably in the conversation. CBU is 9th in points per game in the nation at 80.7, 13th in the nation in three point shooting at 38.2 percent, 7th in the nation in free throw shooting at 78.4 percent and 7th in the nation in rebounding at 41.0 rebounds per game. The defense has been a problem for CBU and their bench is thin. NMSU is ranked 7th in points per game allowed at 60.1 points per game. Jans has done a great job of developing a deep bench. I would vote for Jans but it could be close.

It's crazy to think the WAC POY award is going to a team that sucks. SAD!!!!
