RE: Kelvin Sampson PGI ...
Finch was an above average coach until his health became an issue. He was never a great coach, but he was good enough with the right players to make decent NCAA tournament runs.

Ask Denny Crum if Finch could coach ... If he's still around.

He chased after refs at end of game.

He goes on about AAC scheduling. Bitter ole coach. I say Memphis ruined his day. I love it. It was delicious.

Sampson, Haith and Penny all speak highly of each other. All have their strengths. Glad we have Penny!

I am not so sure you and I watched this with the same outlook.

RE: the 'last 27 seconds' .... the reporters question was ridiculous, and KS called him on it. I had no problem with it.

RE: Zone defense, he IMMEDIATELY backed up and said he ran a 1-3-1 on two possessions. TWO. We got off a 3 from the corner that missed, and fed MD for a dunk. No more zone.

He may be bitter, but I did not draw that conclusion from his post game comments.

Just my opinion. You have yours. NP.

Watching most coaches, esp seasoned coaches respond during interviews makes me thankful we have Penny. Penny knows the game and he isn't afraid to talk about the game. He's an open book. Honest. Candid. So many coaches, for various reasons, won't share their thoughts. Esp terrible hearing those speak that think you aren't capable of understanding (coughcoughTubbyhackhackSampson).

Did you believe there was a foul?

It only sounds ridiculous because Sampson answered in a Bobby Knight fashion.

In public, coaches tend to have a mutual admiration society. Why say anything negative? Supid questions for the most part & Sampson seems to intimidate the media. They are afraid to ask tough questions.

I was at the game. He took off like a bat out of hell after the game. I don't think he was chasing the refs at all. He was pissed he got beat. No handshake line, no nothing.

It was a chickenshit, bush league move.

Ok ... I checked the replay (I was there too). Kelvin shook Penny's hand and a couple others ... Before the refs called everyone back. So after the .3 second rewind ... He left straight for their locker room. Got no problem with that.

RE: Kelvin Sampson PGI ...
Houston was the best team in the league last year and is probably the best team this year.
Sampson is probably the best Coach in this league currently.
I’m still in shock we won.
The free throw disparity really helped.
That disparity won’t be so high down there...
Those rebound fouls were terrible for them....

There’s still hope for Memphis this season...

Thankful we have Penny. We'll hear some people b**** because he has swag, is calm/cool/collected, isn't afraid to answer questions and welcomes pressure.

Given the option to choose either, I'll take Penny. So will players.

Penny is absolutely our guy. Love the guy and am glad he's our coach. In the impossible event that we could choose our basketball coach between Bobby Knight, Kelvin Sampson and Penny, our guy would be third on that list. As of today of course.
