I wonder what kind of reception he will be given at the forum next year.

I honestly feel bad for James. What 18 year old kid knows his butt from a hole in the ground, especially when he has money hungry leaches pressuring him into doing something he likely would have never undertaken on his own.

But, I won't feel terrible for him, he's going to make enough money that it won't matter to him in two years.

I guess I am. Or naive. Or I’d rather trust than be cynical.

Pretty much how I feel. I don’t feel bad for him but at the same time it is impossible for any of us to imagine being in that position at 18. Just time to let this one go and become history.

I hope it sticks, I like it. I have no interest in the interview. IMO, the best interview he could have given was to say he wasn't going to talk about Memphis ever again. I for sure don't need to hear anything from him.

Softball interview & deflection. NCAA is the real villain in this story but JW did pull the rug out from under this team, our coach, our university & the city. He should have stayed committed. And that lack of commitment may cost him a few $M in the draft. Too bad for our team, wish him the best nonetheless.

I supported Wiseman initially because he seemed like a good, humble young man. But his bailing really soured me on him. Lame move. "Prep for the NBA"??? You know how you do that? Play.

I had never really looked at the rookie salary scale but decided to when you posted this. I am a bit shocked at the drop off. Dropping from the #1 overall pick down to the #5 overall pick is a difference of $15,187,822 over the 4 years of the rookie contract!

Players worry about injury but they ALL play somewhere as freshmen. As fans, we look at the increase from 9 to 12 games as a bad thing. IF Wiseman was sincere, the increase was the best thing that could have happened to him. Less games, less chance of injury, with the same opportunity to showcase his skills enough to stay at #1. He would have even been given leeway if he wasn't great because of all the time missed.

I hope he slides down.

RE: James wiseman interview on nba countdown at 6pm
I don't wish anything bad on him. He's 18 and if the push to quit came from family, then what are you going to do? He's not a Memphian, so has no real ties here other than Penny paid to move him here so he'd play at East. He quit on everyone here, and that's how his 3-game Tiger career will be defined. In the end none of it will probably ever matter to James anyway.

The whole mess has just been an embarrassment for the program, so ultimately I just don't care. I still don't wish him ill though.

I don’t feel sorry for him one bit. I don’t feel sorry for Penny and the staff either. They have to know when you recruit these kids anything can happen. Who I do feel sorry for is the teammates he left behind. After all he helped convince many of them to come here. James will regret his actions one day.
