Or is he just a quick fix until things settle down?

I heard they are going to announce Shula as the new coach this afternoon.

I think it is just a quick fix. I don't see him coaching them for longer than a year or two.

Your right! He doesn't excite me as a head coach either. I think if possible, all though probably not, that the guy to get is Mike Stoops. A good, young guy who I believe that could be a really good coach.

Don't think Mike wants the pressure. Just like being the Prez, who wants it unless your ego is the size of an elephant? (pun intended)
Why did Fran leave?, if it's all it's cracked up to be, he would have stayed.
You'd have a better chance at getting Tubbyville than you would Stoops. Just remember, he has no loyalty, no principles and no roots.

Why did Fran leave, you ask?

Here's my opinion:

1. Alabama has zero NFL teams. I firmly believe that Fran wants to be on the fast track to the NFL. That doesn't happen by coaching at Alabama. Look at Butch Davis and Nick Saban. Davis was mentioned for several NFL coaching jobs before he finally bolted for Cleveland. Likewise, Saban's name always comes up in NFL head coaching vacancies. If you get your name in the press of a city that has an NFL team, and you're a good coach, it stands to reason that you will have a very good shot at coaching an NFL team. This is a theory, but it does make a lot of sense!!

2. Fran has zero loyalty. This guy started his Division IA coaching career at New Mexico. Then he jumps to TCU. Then he jumps to Alabama. Then he jumps to Texas A&M. See a pattern here?

3. Alabama is having to deal with the terribles P's: probation and proration.
I'm sure everyone here is familiar with probation, but how many of you are familiar with proration? Proration basically means that education in general is getting a LOT less $$ than it normally gets. The state of Texas hasn't had deal with the terrible P's...yet.
