RE: How many games do you think Memphis football will win next season?
I think all 12 are winnable, but 5 or 6 of those are also possible losses, the 4 road games mentioned above (@Purdue, @SMU, @Cincinnati, @Navy), plus UCF at home and maybe even Houston.

I'll split the baby a bit and say 10 wins. Same as I predicted last year. The road game at Cincy looks like the biggest game, followed by our UCF home game. We need to win one or both of those.

Given our history, it's crazy to be predicting seasons like this.

The other thing is, with the AAC bowl schedule, it's more or less NY6 or bust.

7-8. We have no idea how the transition will go from 2nd chair to 1st. Hopefully he exceeds expectations, but those expectations can't be 10 games his first year. Be realistic. Expect difficulty, and hope to exceed that difficulty.

Seriously, are you delusional? Chances of that are so slim, the odds would be out of sight.

10, if things fall just right with new leadership.

Pass the kool-aide, I will take a drink.

Best offensive performance by any team against Penn State. Our defense has always been susceptible under CMN except for one game and that was this year against Ole Miss.

So, if we correct the defensive side and keep our offense rolling, we may have more offensive possessions and that might be deadly allowing us to go 12 and 0! Purdue is good, but no Penn state.

But, we could also hang up on a game or two, so who really knows. I would almost bet we will be one of the favorites in the American.

Good luck Coach Silverfield.

In the history of the program, we've only had double digit regular season wins 3 times. Granted 2 of those have been over the past 3 years. But it's also a totally new staff and tougher schedule than last year.

I'm content with 8. Predict 9.

I'm going to go in the other direction with this one. Norvell was amazing but the two criticisms of him were occasionally his play calling, and his halftime adjustments.

Working on short notice, with missing pieces and Magnifico and Dill being out, the play calling was fine and we managed to score more points against Penn State than anyone else had. We scored more points against them than any other team did all year and they gave up 13 points or less in 8 out of the 12 games leading up to ours.

I think the offense is going to be great, and even though the defense lost Fuller, having a great DC two years in a row will rub off. We always seem to find good offensive linemen and playmakers. Replacing Huff and Hall is going to be tough.

We have never brought back more starters than we do this year and we will also have Carter, Dykes and Pop back from injury.

Agree.

Or......don't be skeert of disappointment. That's like being skeert of life in general.

*steps on daily soapbox

I mean we could allow no more than 10 seconds to move through the disappointments of team losses. (Best not come here after a loss, though lol...People tend to wallow overly much.)

In conclusion, gentlemen of the jury, expecting difficulty might work for some but not for e'rrbody. Expecting difficulty weakens our physical and non-physical bodies, so that when a difficulty hits, we are less able to process it.

*steps off daily soapbox lol...
just expect what you want, folks.

As long as we win at least 8 it will be fine. Given the changes, more than that will seem like gravy. But less than that and people will start to talk crazy.
