It is extremely frustrating to watch #Sendyoffense. because there is none...I genuinely like" Rob the person" but I am having a harder and harder time liking "Rob the coach". there appears to be a lack of accountability/ discipline from coach to the senior players...running set plays/shot selection/body language/technical fouls. KSU knows the zone D is coming from EMU- didn't see a strategy/ execution/in game coaching adjustments to combat it...

One of the worst performances I have ever seen from a Kent BB team. A Lot of this is on my favorite coach as there was no attempt to solve the zone. We have been pretty good at attacking the zone in the past but this team personnel seems to be very allergic to coaching.

What's worse than 1-24 from three? How about 5-31 from 3 ponit range. What kind of offensive set is that? Had we taken low % shots, and hit half of those, that's at least 30 points. The offense doesn't look like they run drills. They don't look rehearsed. The defense looks like they don't watch game tape.
The sad thing is, Rob will likely get 20 wins and a kudos for beating the likes of Hiram and Concord.

Not to forget we have the biggest guy in the bloody building most nights! Come up with plays that put him to work. That was actually working against Ball State, but no! NO-no-no! We had to switch to a 3-game.
YOU'RE LESS LIKELY TO HIT THREE POINT SHOTS!

I am afraid three point shots are all we can do. One of our bigs is allergic to playing inside and the other just isn’t enough of a threat.

I wish the 20 win standard would go away. It was the standard when teams played 25 games. It should be 25 today. Unfortunately the people at ESPN have only 20 fingers and toes to count on so it will never change.

Player development would resolve that. But who needs that when we have one game out of five where we can actually hit long-range.
Honestly, I have other things to do this Friday.

You know its bad game when Mitch Peterson leads the team in % made 3s. We're rapidly playing our way out of a bye to Cleveland and those wins over UT look hollow

This was almost as bad as the 95-61 beating we took at EMU last year. We don't know how to gameplan for the zone.

Agree, Burden. 20 wins isn't what it used to be. This is just a mediocre team. Not a bad team, just mediocre. They are in the middle of a mediocre conference that doesn't have a single team that would even get a second's consideration for an at-large bid.

I think there is a lot wrong with college basketball To me, admittedly an old-timer, the game just isn't as fun to watch as it once was. Player movement makes it difficult to build anything. I was against the introduction of the three-point shot and the shot clock (once 45 seconds, now down to 30 seconds). I get tired of seeing games where some teams take more than half their shots from 3-point territory. But, it is what it is.

RE: Kent State @ Eastern Michigan
I did some summaries of the MAC standings for the 8+ Senderoff years. Kent has an 85-68 record which is the fourth best in the league over that time. Buffalo (105), Akron (100) and Toledo (88) have been better. Ohio at 81 rounds out the top 5. The other interesting thing is Kent win totals vary from 7 to 12. Only EMU (73-80) ranging from 7 to 11 was more consistent. The data kind of fits what I have felt. Always slightly above average but never excellent. Their was a Ohio St. coach many years ago whose name slips my mind right now who was similar. He could take average players win 20 or so, make the NCAA and lose in the second round. Then one year he had 4 1st round draft choices (Kelvin Ramsey, Herb Williams were 2 of them) and he won 20 or so, made the NCAA and lost in the second round. I wonder if we have his clone.

DING-DING-DING-DING-DING!!!!!

Winner, winner chicken dinner!!!

Past KSU teams have had little problem beating, or at least being competitive, against this zone in most games, especially when KSU had a solid post presence. The coach hasn't changed his philosophy or plan of attack.

So it must be .....

I can handle losing. I can even handle scoring 49 points.

But the continuous technical fouls by seniors is an embarrassment. I just cannot support that.

Totally agree, WE are embarrassed, too bad team isn’t.
That game was a joke. Poorly prepared. EMU always plays zone and we
were unprepared. 7th graders learn how to beat a zone. Rob teaches
It at his camps. Coaches get an F grade for this game.

RE: Kent State @ Eastern Michigan
Burden, there were plenty of times in Kent State basketball history when people would have been gleeful that they were 4th over 8+ years. But, after 1998/99 through 2012/13 4th is a huge letdown, and to be behind Akron is just plain disgusting. I was never naïve enough to believe that KSU would be at or close to the top every single year, but I did expect them to be #1 over any long haul. The fact is that Kent State no longer has any selling point to recruits over any other MAC program, so in a sense the fact that the program never slipped below .500 is quite an achievement.
