Did the CCHA teams have to pay exit fees?

They are a little dated but very interesting, especially how Notre Dame was almost a member from the beginning. Probably would have been a better choice than joining Hockey East and flying to Boston every other week.

The link I had posted was to part 3. Never mind. Use Google to find it easily.

Ahhhhh, no. The whole league folded. The schools realized that with the loss of all four of the P5 teams that the league was not going to be viable and would lack the excitement that those games brought. In our case, being physically close to BG, Ferris and ND we could still play them and all three B1G schools in non conference games.

I think (not 100%) he's asking if the new CCHA schools are paying an exit fee to leave the current WCHA

Yes, that is what I'm asking. Did the new CCHA teams leaving the WCHA have to pay exit fees?

My understanding is that they did pay an exit fee.

I don't think they did. Some of those schools could not afford that. Also, if 7 schools paid an exit fee...……...who gets it --- AA, AF, and UAH? There essentially is no league to pay it to. Since that version of the WCHA came about after the demise of the old CCHA and the original WCHA, rules like that probably weren't put in place. Just guessing.

You are correct. According to league bylaws there is no exit fee to pay with a 2-year notification. Hence the timing of the announcement.

Huntsville has also given their 2-year notice but that's more of a defensive move designed to give them flexibility as this plays out.
