Roku predicts half of TV watchers won't have cable by 2024
CNBC reports:
Quote:Roku predicts that by 2024, half of all U.S. homes will have never had cable TV or will have canceled their subscription.
Roku sees this trend boosting its business, which it frames as being a “neutral partner at the center of the streaming ecosystem.”
It's an interesting prediction and with Comcast going up on their products once again, I'm starting to think hard about ditching cable.

I exchanged a cable bill for an internet bill and streaming subscriptions. Costs are about the same, just depends on how your household consumes those two mediums.

I have YouTube TV which is awesome. I get a ton of stations including all the main sports networks for $49.99, and I can share with six other family members. Three of my kids share my account for free. The streamers need to be careful, as raising prices will take away their present advantage.

I went out and got a 77 inch LG OLED right before football season. I have Directv and was a little frustrated they were not giving me the NFL ticket at no charge like they normally do each year. So I reconsidered streaming but once I looked into it the streaming is not at this time as reliable and not near as fluid to watch which definitely makes a difference with sports. I have tmobile so they give the MLB ticket streaming for free which is nice but you notice there is a difference in movement.
I decided why would I invest in a top of the line tv and then want to try and save $50 a month for a subpar picture so it didn't add up to me.
Maybe the 5G rollout will help and make streaming better by the 2024 year but right now if I want quality picture and broadcasts of sports I decided to stay with Directv.
I also like the additional 4K content that I am seeing available on Directv also.

I really only use Hulu Live for sports at this point.
