that's modern analytics baseball.

All those years (decades?) those analytics and sabremetricians spent mocking Dusty Baker like he’s some joke, yet here he is in the playoffs again with his 5th organization and contending for a World Series.

Give me a break. He managed them to a 29-31 record in a totally **** division. Correa and Altuve (who sucked during the season) get scorching hot and dusty is getting the credit for that? Stop trying to make it fit your narrative.

The team was plagued with injuries and clearly affected by the scandal (yes they brought it on themselves). Dusty came in and kept the locker room together, did a great job managing his young pitchers, and helped them ride through the storm. He absolutely deserves credit for helping these guys resurrect themselves.

Both the Dodgers and the Braves are in a race to see who will choke first.

The Rays were plagued by injuries too. I am not saying Dusty doesn't deserve credit as a calming force, but let's be real; they were under .500 with the 8th best record in the league, playing in the worst division. They only made the postseason because MLB expanded it. And now they lost to a team that also dealt with injuries and has a payroll a fraction of Houston's. This isn't some amazing managing job.

Great run for the Stros. Super proud of the way they battled. Just dug too big of a hole. Hats off to the Rays. They were the more deserving team. Charlie was nails as always. Would love to see them get their first chip.

Don't give up hope. Roberts might take Buehler out after 5 innings and let the bullpen blow the 3-run lead. 07-coffee3

Nope and the Braves are toast

The WS champs will either be a first-time champ (Rays) or coming off at least a quarter-century championship drought (Braves - 1995; Dodgers - 1988). Pretty exciting stuff.

RE: 2020 MLB Thread
The weather turned against the Astros. In the last round they got all day games in hot weather and the home runs flew out of the park. In the LCS, 2 of their 3 wins were also in day games. In game 7 in the evening, the marine layer rolled in relatively early, after the Rays were up 3-0, and that almost foreclosed the possibility of catching up with home runs.

And on top of that, Morton was great. He's the first pitcher to win three game sevens.

The Rays ought to be looking at game 2 as almost a must-win. Not only would they be down 0-2 if they lose, but Buehler is starting game 3 for LA.

You never want to go down 0-2, but the Rays have Charlie slotted for game 3. He's 5-0 in the postseason since he's been with the Rays, so I don't think they'll be sweating too much. He looked good against the Dodgers in the 2017 series as well, so he's as good of a guy to be able to turn to with the season on the line as there is.

He’s got a shot to really bury the rep in game 5 of the series.

Question RE: 2020 MLB Thread
Really was pleasantly stunned, but vastly appreciative of Bryce Wilson's efforts in his start. Also, kudos to AJ Minter, who performed above and beyond. Great future ahead for this team.

Kind of sad how bad (collectively) the league is at bunting.

Wow, that was one of the wildest endings I've ever seen. Tampa is the team of destiny!

All of the pressure on Kershaw now tomorrow.

And Jansen just Jansen's yet again.

He's either going to rewrite his legacy or cement it. Either way it should make for great television.

Kershaw 0-2 in previous WS G5's

Will Smith goes into the World Series Hall of Shame with that blunder.

If the Dodgers don't come back and win the series, that will be the moment used to explain why the most talented team five years running still hasn't won a World Series.
