And stever didn't think the Dodgers would go over the luxury tax threshold...

Hell, I wasn't so sure myself, especially after last year's trade deadline bummer and the FA situation this offseason. Glad to know they're willing to go over it but it does seem like they'll only do it for particular circumstances. They have so much cash coming off the books after this season it'll put them under again by a large margin; I think I have to prepare for a weird 2020/2021 hot stove (can/will they keep Mookie, will they let Turner go, etc.)

Guy with recent injury history has injury. News at 11.

Yeah.

Would there be a more shocking TJ Surgery than him? I sure can't think of any.

Did you mean *less* shocking? Cuz yeah, I can think of A LOT more shocking announcements than Sale needing TJ.

That is a really funny one...

I think any chance of them going under the threshold evaporated when the Pederson deal fell thru.

And that deal was only $10MM-ish in AAV - would still have required more deals/off loading of payroll.

yeah looking at Roster Resource, at 232,660 would still need 14 million more there... That's 2nd threshold level even. Will make it where if they lose for instance Pederson this year, the compensation goes down.

feel safe in saying Sale is done for the year- you don't get a 2nd opinion if the 1st opinion is good news-

I wouldn't necessarily go that far (done for the year) but yeah it's gotta be bad. ElAttrache is the Dodgers team ortho - one of if not the best in the business.

I doubt the Astros beat writer or Astros fans would think it was funny if a mascot did that to a fan with a sign supporting the Astros...

Wow, that's a bad look.

I would imagine there are rules with regard to how mascots can engage with fans at MLB stadiums?

Can we fine the Astros for harassment? I'm only half joking.

Bro, that ship has sailed.

No one feels sorry for the Astros. It might be different had they received a legitimate punishment, but there's no chance anyone gives a rip about hurting the Astros feelings.

what's bad is just like ARod said(imagine ARod being the voice of reason)…. The problem with the Astros is that no one has shown any remorse at all about it.

A-Rod is right about that, because he is an expert at not showing remorse. He was suspended for an entire year for using PEDs, only apologized after his suspension was over, and in his apology referred only to "the mistakes that led to my suspension" without mentioning PEDs at all. 07-coffee3
