The National League playoff race is definitely more wide open with many teams hovering above, at, and below .500. Going down to the wire for sure. St. Louis still has a few games to makeup.

St Louis they're planning to only get to 58. Missing the 2 Tiger games.... Saw only way those get made up on Monday(and this is why NL playoffs are starting Wed.) is if either they need to get up to 60 to make the playoffs or if it impacts home field for the 1st round of playoffs. If it's something like 5 vs 6 or 6 vs 7- won't get made up.

Do you have a source or link for this? There hasn't been a lot said about if/how to make up games and of course Reds fans want to know.

So tonight could be something really amazing. If the Phillies lose and Marlins win, the Marlins would clinch 2nd place and playoff spot....

This is the 4 year anniversary of Jose Fernandez death.

That's a huge incentive for the Cardinals to win on Saturday or Sunday. If they win at least one of those two, then they don't have to play a Monday doubleheader (assuming that the Cubs hold on to win the division).

RE: 2020 MLB Thread
Because the Cubs clinched the division on Saturday while the Phillies, Cardinals, and Giants all lost, the last two NL playoff spots will play out like this:

RE: 2020 MLB Thread
AL games start Tuesday and NL games on Wednesday...

Quote:There will be no days off during these rounds, meaning there will be eight games played on Wednesday and potentially that many on Thursday as well.

The first round (Wild Card Series) is a best-of-three series with all three games at the higher seed's ballpark. The second round (LDS) is a best-of-five and the final two rounds (LCS and World Series) are best-of-sevens.

Let's get it on!

I sure don't want to play the Reds right now. Especially in 1st 2 rounds where they could in rd 1 have pitching set perfectly and LDS have Bauer set to go in games 1 and 5 pretty easily.

The Reds won their last 5 series in a row including aginst the Cards, ChiSox and Twins. They are playing with a lot of confidence right now and complimentary baseball - pitching and hitting clicking together. Anything can happen in a three game series and I'm trying not to get too amped. As you mention, I do like the potential setup with our starters - they'll give us a great shot to stay in any game. We shall see...

The Reds kind of remind me of the Nats from last year. I think the question is can you score enough runs?

RE: 2020 MLB Thread
It will be interesting to see if the momentum from the end of the season will carry-over to the playoffs...

Braves 6-4 L10 / 9-6 L15 / 11-9 L20

Reds 7-3 L10 / 11-4 L15 / 13-7 L20

To stever20's point above...NL rank...

Braves - 2nd Runs / 7th ERA

Reds - 13th Runs / 2nd ERA

Now, those stats are over the 60 game season. I can't speak for the Braves but the Reds improved as an offense over the last 20 games. That said, the Braves still have a better, more consistent offense. They say good pitching tends to win over good hitting so we'll see...

Out of practice remembering to come here. But yeah, we had some brutal losses. Between the Rockies game where our hitters could barely scratch across a run, and then the blown game against the Padres. We had a fun, scrappy season, but in the end, I wish we had gotten a top 10 pick. Oh well.

the draft is such a crapshoot though.... Nats fans been mad as anything about the 3 wins over the weekend going from a 5th or so pick up to 11th....
