holy crap- Adam Kolarek threw 1.2 innings tonight... Turns out these guys don't just have to face 1 batter.

Are the Giants even going to win 10 games this year?

I have to admit, I didn't mind the fake crowd inserts from last night's game. It looked best from the pitcher's mound view.

Your question is effectively, would you bet over or under if the Giants' O/U was 9.5?

Last season, every MLB team won at least 19 of its first 60 games. Oddsmakers have every MLB team's O/U at 20 wins or more for 2020.

Buffalo it is...

Quote:The Toronto Blue Jays have finally found a solution in their home ballpark search for the 2020 MLB season. The Blue Jays announced Friday that the club will play their 2020 home games at Sahlen Field, their Triple-A affiliate ballpark in Buffalo, New York during the 60-game campaign.

In the league's new geographically-based schedule for this season, teams will not venture outside their "regions" in an effort to contain extra exposure to COVID-19. With the Blue Jays playing their 2020 home games in Buffalo, it will work out fairly well in respect to travel for their AL East and NL East opponents.

Good for Buffalo

Reds win opener 7-1 behind a strong outing from Sonny Gray [6 IP, 1 ER, 2 BB, 3 H, 9 SO] and a great debut for Moose [4 AB, 1 R, 3 H, 4 RBI, 1 HR]. One down and 59 to go!

Not great for the Jays, but I guess playing 25 of 60 games at a "home" is better than playing all 60 in the opponent's ballpark. As that article mentions, they'll have about two and a half weeks to bring the Buffalo lighting closer to what TV needs, and presumably to build new bullpens beyond the center field wall, among other things. Kind of surprising that it seems like the Jays didn't even think about a Plan B until after the Canadian government told them no.

actually it's going to be 28 of 60 most likely as they will either be able to play next weekend vs Philly in Buffalo, or move the series in September from Philly to Buffalo(trading home series).

RE: 2020 MLB Thread
interesting day today. just great to have baseball back. Kyle Hendricks with a pretty good opening day start...

NL Starters- all but 1 went at least 5 innings with 7/14 going at least 6. Seeing somewhat the impact of DH in there.

And we got to see the first use of the silly extra inning rule with a runner starting each half-inning at second base.

It helped the A's tonight, but it's still a silly rule.

it's going to be interesting to see how it goes. I hope it fails and is gone after this year.

The one good thing about it tonight was that Karl Ravech pointed out how dumb Sutcliffe and Mendoza were to insist that the A's Laureano should lead off by trying to sacrifice bunt. Ravech mentioned that in 2019, a home team that had a runner on 2nd and no outs in a tied extra inning won 81% of the time while a home team that had a runner on 3rd and one out won 83% of the time. Meaning that when you add in the much-less-than-100% possibility of a successful sacrifice, a team is much better off having that batter try to get on base instead of trying to sacrifice.

Question RE: 2020 MLB Thread
Soroka looked great yesterday, but DeGrom and the Metz shut down Braves' bats with 15 Ks--yikes!. 1-0 game. Glad to have baseball back! Fried vs Matz today. Let's get one back!

... and no team started this season 0-3, either.

Too early to say it's a predictor of the entire 60-game run, but if there are very few significant winning streaks or losing streaks, there will be a lot of teams bunched up for the playoff spots and they'll be using tiebreakers to determine division titles and the final wild card places.

Good start for Urias tonight with 1 run in 5 innings. Really a big year for him this year with Price opting out and Kershaw injured(gee, where have we heard that line before?).
