@Elon
We had good fight but fell last night in a close one. With Delaware winning it keeps us ahead of Elon but out of contention for better than 6th (unless Towson or someone completely tanks out at this point, which is doubtful). So now our season is reliant on getting wins. We get Elon tomorrow and UNCW on the road, both of which really need to be wins because NU still plays CofC, @Delaware, JMU and Towson. JMU and Towson are likely wins for them which means we need to match their 2 wins outside of our game next week with them. I don't see us beating Hofstra at home so that 2nd win has to be a road game and CofC doesnt seem like a great place to pick that win up. Home against NU will be a must win, however if we don't get a road win in this one we are just about relegated to the play-in round.

We crushed Elon in the first matchup. Elon was on a good run lately until their comeback effort fell short against UD. Hopefully that comeback wears on them and they come out tired for our game. This is a beatable team that can still really hurt you form 3. They will fire up about 30 of them a game. We have been a good 3 point defense, so I don't expect them to fall at a high clip for them. Elon is decent at home and miserable away. This won't be easy but we should be able to pull away late. We need to stay focused on closing out on shooters and not giving them easy or good looks. If they wish to get into the paint, let them. Elon only does well when the other team shoots really really badly. So take our time on offense and find good shots. Butler should be able to dominate down low. He comes road win #2 in conference.

Drexel- 78
Elon- 68

Elon has been playing well. Drexel has not. Elon plays well at home, Drexel is terrible on the road. That's all you need to know. I'm surprised Elon isn't an even larger favorite.

RE: @Elon
Elon won 75-70. Wynter (23 points and 6 assists) and Okros (13 points) shot well. Walton shot okay and had 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists. Butler had 11 points and 12 rebounds, but shot 4-10. With 13:28 left, the teams combined to shoot threes better than free throws. You made 8 of your first 12 threes before finishing 9-17 (.529), which is better than you shot twos. Elon made half of their threes at 12-24 and under half of their twos. Marcus Sheffield II led Elon with 24 points and 4 assists. Hunter McIntosh had 18 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. He shot 4-12 including threes 2-5, which means he shot twos 2-7, and he shot free throws 8-8. Hunter Woods had 14 points and 7 rebounds. Kris Wooten scored 9 by shooting 3-5, with all his attempts being threes. Seth Fuller, who had 9 points this season before yesterday, scored 6 by shooting 2-2, with both of them threes. I thought he started for Senior Day, but Elon said he played 2 games as a freshman before getting an injury redshirt and says he's a redshirt junior. If he returns, graduate transfer Sheffield II is Elon's only senior or graduate student. Fuller scored at least 6 against a Division I team for the first time in almost two years. He scored 8 in a 72-57 loss at Delaware on February 17, 2018. Field goal and free throw attempts were close. You had 7 more rebounds and 4 more turnovers.

You're 1 game behind Northeastern to avoid the First Round. You're 2.5 games behind Charleston in fifth. You got blown out at Northeastern, so the best you can do is a split. You need to beat Northeastern to have a chance at passing them. If you do the same as them on Thursday and beat them on Saturday, it will be hard for you because at UNCW and Charleston is a harder final week than Northeastern hosting JMU and Towson. If you win both and Northeastern loses both, you will end next week 1 game ahead with a head-to-head split. You would be 1-1 against Hofstra, Delaware, and W&M; while Northeastern would be 0-2 against all of them. The only way you could lose the tiebreaker to Northeastern in that case would be if Charleston ties for first, and they're 2.5 games behind Hofstra. If you win both next week, Northeastern loses both next week, Hofstra wins at Delaware, Charleston loses at UNCW, and you win at UNCW, you will clinch a bye before ending at Charleston. In the unlikely event that Northeastern wins at Delaware and loses hosting JMU, you will also clinch a bye before ending at Charleston.

All of this essentially boils down to "we're screwed".

The lack of posts about this game, tells you all you need to know about what I and other fans think of this team right now. This season that started out with much hope is about to end like all of the others.

RE: @Elon
7th is locked in, for sure, now. We did not play that poorly, we just didnt get stops. When Elon shoots well they have won games. They shot well Saturday. Elon shoots a lot of 3's and they made them which didnt bode well. This team was not going to win 3 games in a row away from the DAC come March anyhow, but now we are staring down 7th or 8th. Obviously 8th is better to avoid Hofstra, but I kinda rather them finish 7th so that our fans have a chance to support the women in the senior day and still have time to head down to DC if they want to catch the mens tournament game. If I were local and had to choose between play-in round for the men vs senior day for the women, I think it would be tough to choose the men's game. The women deserve support for their season and the seniors accomplishments than the men do for a first round play-in game. Bailey, Metzel, Brown, Leonard, Ana Ferariu all deserve it. My opinion. It is definitely crappy that our senior day falls on a day in which the men's tournament kicks off.
