RE: Opening Day
FSU will have a tougher than usual OOC schedule that includes games against NCAAT teams from 2019; TTU, Mercer, Cinci, Ill St, plus the usual instate rivals including the Gators. FSU’s home conference schedule should be a good one, drawing UL, UM, NCSU, GT and ND. It’s expected to be a struggle to extend our 40 year, 40 win streak.

RE: Opening Day
The only remaining old face in Danny Hall's staff is ..... Danny Hall. Nice that the new AD sees the decade+ stagnation/slide and isn't satisfied with it. The last two ADs would simply extend Hall and keep going. Last year they forced a change in hitting coach .... and they had a Top 5 offense. This year it's the former head of the entire Yankees minor league pitching system coming in as pitching coach. Maybe he'll put a stop to the infamous streak, particularly in the post season, of leaving pitchers out too long.

RE: Opening Day
Is there a reason that VT decided to start their season way out in California?
Was there an invitational or tournament they were attending?

Maybe they just wanted some fresh guacamole?

Seems like an awfully long way to go to play an OOC series. I'm not a fan of sending non-revs all the way across country. That's money that could be spent on Football and Men's basketball.
Maybe I'm wrong and going to Cali was a recruiting hook that landed a few decent Baseball recruits. If that's the case it's worth it.

ND has started its baseball season in California quite a few times. Arizona, too.

Cards take down Ole Miss in Oxford, 7 - 2.
Good start. Two more to go.

It's a long season. Louisville lost the opening series last year to UConn, and went on to Omaha.

It’s funny, but SU plays at FSU today in basketball, while Niagra comes down to play FSU in baseball. Would be hilarious if they car pooled.

Because it is a stupid idea to start college baseball in the middle of February, yes.
ND beat UAB, 4-2.

Academic calendars and money have changed college sports.
When I was in school, it didn't start until after Labor Day and the first football game wasn't until the middle of September (10 GAMES). First semester exams were after the Christmas break, and we didn't get out until the first week in June.
Unfortunately, because second semester starts so early, in order to play most of the season before graduation, the season has to start in the middle of winter.
Yes, stupid.
Carolina won 15-3.
