Senate votes to protect Iran
https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opini...ns-problem

Senate votes 51-45 (8 Republican yes votes-moderate and libertarians) to restrict US actions against Iran.

"...But the ISA also operates in nations where the U.S. is not engaged in overt combat operations. And considering the Trump administration's conduct of intelligence community covert actions against Iran, the ISA's operational footprint very likely includes Iran. This is especially probable in terms of countering Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps activities.

Why does the resolution pose a problem in this regard? Because such action is of great value to U.S. security by undermining our adversaries and disrupting their ability to threaten us. And while there is a case that specific covert actions involving the ISA are protected from the Senate's resolution by virtue of President Trump's Title 50 executive power, that's not for certain.

In short, Tim Kaine's resolution is better than most. But it's language failure makes it less than perfect."

Good. Send it over to the clown show in the house, let them pass it, then Trump can veto it.

He probably will anyway, but it's not that big of a deal. We can always run what we need to black ops and just not take credit for it.

Senate votes to protect Iran
Honestly I have no problem with it on its face. The timing is horrific and sends a mixed message.

I would like to see trump and Congress actively pursue legislation like this returning our govt to the core principle and rules that it itself was governed by. After trump wins reelection like to see and end to the 'nuclear option' a reduction in patriot act powers, confirmation of powers ( like this legislation), and many others.

I don't disagree with any of what you say, but agree the timing sent a mixed message that the MSM immediately tried to spin as a rebuke. It wasn't and if they listened to Paul he explained this perfectly. But like I said earlier we have other means at our disposal that just requires claiming no credit. But Obama used executive orders well beyond their intent. And if we are going to walk back the powers of the Executive Branch then we will need to take a Hike to get the House back in bounds.

Well the author is concerned that it would limit black ops as written.

Trump should call their bluff and bring home everyone we have posted over seas and station them in bases along the southern border.

Bullet they don't call them "black" for no reason. They account for the things every country does to protect its self interest but is politically challenged to do or admit. They are called black because those who do them are never recognized and if killed while doing them are disavowed publicly whether our own or our proxies. Throughout history nations, including ours, have had men and women who were prepared to give the full measure of devotion without recognition or public honors in life or death, and they have accomplished amazing things while performing crucial deeds. A hero who requires no recognition is a rare individual indeed!
