Athletic Department is making plans to host...
the women's mini-tournament March 10th and 11th (we would host if we finish 3rd or 4th). We are currently in 3rd place behind Troy (10-1; 19-3 overall) and CC (9-2; 19-3 overall). An unexpected blow-out loss to GaSt, last Saturday, leaves us in a precarious position at 8-3. To get a bye to New Orleans we would have to pass both Troy and CC, and Coastal already has the tie-breaker. Our remaining schedule is really difficult as we play Troy twice, USA (7-4) twice, UTA (7-4), and @ASU (6-5). Appears that we would have to beat Troy twice to get the bye to New Orleans, but that seems unlikely. Seems that our most likely path to New Orleans is getting the mini-tournament at the Jack. To do that we clearly have to beat UTA (they already beat us once) and, at worst, split with USA and Troy and beat ASU (and TxSt who we play tomorrow). Before losing to GaSt, the other day, I never even considered the possibility that we would finish outside the top 4. Now we will really have to battle to stay in the top 4.
