Another P6 Milestone---The First Million Dollar Assistant Coach
UCF defensive coordinator Randy Shannon is the new highest paid assistant coach in among Group of Five assistant coaches, according to information obtained from the Orlando Sentinel.

On February 1st, Shannon’s annual compensation jumped from $300k annually to $1 million, according to an addendum to his contract that the Orlando Sentinel got ahold of. Shannon, who was in the mix for a few head coaching jobs again this off season, also got a one-time retention bonus of $300k on February 6th.

Contract was back loaded because UF was paying most of his 1st two years and UCF only contributed $300k at the time. The real question will be if they continue paying $1 million after this year. If they resign him at that, then it will be news. So although it looks good for a P6 PR plug, the devil is in the details.

That's a lot of money to pay a guy that got 34 (+ an L) hung on him by a team that finished with 3 wins....

Most of our front 7 were freshmen and sophomores, so although that was a bad game, I thought we did well for a defense so young. Randy does a great job recruiting talent in Florida, especially the Miami area. I’d say he’s earned the money. This year will be the year he finally has most of his players in the system, so I expect our defense to be very, very good.

Now contrast this with the thread talkin about players just now being possibly allowed to transfer, by right and just once, to another school. What a world what a world.
