RE: 2020 CAA football offseason thread
I'm just assuming the season will be cancelled with the way things are going. The question is whether or not the NCAA grants wavers for all seniors and then what do they do with the scholarship limit for the 2021 recruits? It's going to be a mess for at least 2 seasons i think

I know this sounds like a crazy idea, but I wonder if the return of JV football might return for a season or two with the potential backlog of redshirt frosh on the scout team to prepare the previous year's redshirt frosh who is the real scout team. I'm being silly, but you get the point. Years ago lots of programs had JV teams. I mean, the depth chart potentially could be 4 or 5 deep at every position with scholarshipped players. Let 'em play some games so they are at least competing and staying active.

Feel sorry for the majority of these young people. You sign and will likely have to sit 2 years, not one, before you legitimately get a shot given the potential scenario you mention. And yes, it is definitely going to be a mess.

(btw, the 5-star can't-miss guys will play immediately...I'm not suggesting there is a mandatory rule that disallows incoming freshmen to play immediately like existed years ago)

It would be sad to lose Liam Fornadel's senior season. I could see him drafted next year even if the season is cancelled. I doubt he comes back if next season is cancelled.

Cool article on Jake Brown and his NFL hopes but one thing I noticed is the following question and answer:

“Who is the hardest working teammate on your team?”
• Antwane Wells

Not often you see a Redshirt Senior shout out a freshman. Cool to see and gives me big hopes for Wells.

Towson's new QB Jake Constantine, who transferred from Weber State where he was a starter, has announced he's going to Washington State instead. Ouch. Maybe next time Ambrose.

Having the season canceled early likely didn’t help. WSU is still looking to play this year:https://www.cougcenter.com/2020/7/25/213...all-sports

Wow. So that's basically 4 schools in one off season correct? I understand a player making the decision to transfer, but this is pretty ridiculous.

My favorite thing about all of that is that on his twitter he called Rice University the University of Rice when talking about the offer.

We’ve had recruits call us the university of James madison on Twitter before.

I know immediately that guy won’t be signing with us. If you can’t pay close enough attention to the schools name you aren’t really invested in them.
