LSU-Florida St series
https://fbschedules.com/florida-state-ls...2022-2023/

Quote:The Florida State Seminoles and the LSU Tigers have scheduled a neutral-site football series for the 2022 and 2023 seasons, both schools announced on Tuesday.

The Florida State-LSU series will kick off with the two schools playing at Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, La., on Sunday, Sept. 4, 2022. The series will conclude the following season on Sunday, Sept. 3, 2023 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Fla.
Quote:Per a copy of the participation agreement for the 2022 game in New Orleans obtained from LSU by FBSchedules.com, both LSU and Florida State will each keep an amount equal to $5.1 million if they sell their full allotment of tickets (30,000 per school). Additionally, LSU will be designated the home team.

A copy of the agreement for the 2023 game in Orlando was not immediately available.

Update: The money for the game in Orlando is the same as for the game in New Orleans: $5.1 million per team, provided they sell their quota of tickets.

Both fan bases on reddit/twitter/forums seem pretty upset the series isn’t at Doak Campbell/Tiger Stadium.

Looks like ESPN is planning TWO SEC neutral site games per year (one in Atlanta and one in NOLA).

I don’t get the point of neutral site games between schools with HUGE home stadiums.

1. Location - maybe you have fans in the city who don't normally attend home games
2. Revenue - depending on how it's done, a neutral site game May bring in more money to the school.

I'm not a fan of neutral site games, except for rivalries like OU-Texas and Florida-Georgia. But, they function as an in-season bowl game of sorts. Fans get to travel to a "destination" for a game against another "name" team, TV gets a marquee game, and the game generates more revenue for the athletic department than a home game. It's money generated outside of the normal season ticket package.

If you're a donor and/or a season ticket holder, you want these games at home. If you're an administrator, you want the exposure and the income from the neutral-site game. If you're a coach, you don't want a true road game in the other team's stadium.

One would think that season ticket holders will, at some point, become ticked off if the marquee games are at neutral sites while the non-conference home games are all versus bottom-half-of-G5 teams and FCS teams.

LSU probably has so much demand for tickets that it won't matter for them, but for Florida State and others with softer demand, it will become a factor at some point.

For STHs the big match ups are the lure for buying the package. No one is excited when Troy or an FCS team is in town. Who you want to see is your big rival every other year, a big name OOC in off setting years, and maybe the next best 1-2 conference games.
