Huskies/Cardinals
NIU opens as an 8 point underdog. I'm fairly surprised considering the Huskies are riding high with this 6 game winning streak and Ball State is coming off a loss at WMU. Lets hope the Huskies can prove Vegas wrong!

RE: Huskies/Cardinals
Some more about the defensive struggle in Muncie. Both teams lean on their defense and it seems to be working for both. Game on ESPN+
at 6pm central. Both teams have lost to Akron, CMU and BGSU.

NCAA NET NIU 162 BSU 111
KenPom NIU 178 BSU 113

BSU has been inconsistent all year beating very good teams but losing to bad team. But comparing their 6 MAC wins to Four MAC losses the FG% and 3pt% only varied 41%/34% (in their wins) to 39%/31% (in their losses).

Some MAC stats:
BSU 1st in scoring defense and NIU 3rd
BSU 10th in scoring offense and NIU 11th
BSU 5th in defense FG% and NIU 1st
BSU 9th in offense FG% and NIU 12th
BSU 3rd in defense 3pt% and NIU 1st
BSU 9th in offense 3pt% and NIU 6th
Turnovers are even.

Hard to predict this one but IF Huskies come out with a win they will be sitting pretty in the MAC West if they can give payback to CMU on
2/22 at the Convo.

GO HUSKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why?

Any team that plays against German has a matchup problem.

I just think NIU is better with teams that are more front-court dominant where you can muck things up. Ball State as you pointed out is the most efficient defense in the MAC, and I am not sure especially in Muncie, that NIU can find enough offense to keep up. I think this game will come down to more what Ball State doesn't do than what NIU does if NIU is to have a chance. Ball State would have to have a horrendous point 3-pt FG shooting night for NIU to have a chance. They have done it before, but seems like somewhat of a long shot. I sort of feel like Ball State would have to shoot sub 25% from 3-pt for NIU to remain in this game. But heck if NIU were to somehow come out of Muncie with a win, then you have to start talking about them as a serious MAC Tourney contender

If Huskies can slow down Teague and hold him under his season avg(15.1 pts, 9 rebs). He is 6'8", so it will be up to Lacey to slow him down AND keep out of foul trouble. That is the only matchup problem you alluded to earlier.

GO HUSKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RE: Huskies/Cardinals
No matter the outcome tonight—win, buzzer beater loss or getting blown out—-let’s remain calm and not overreact, plotting NCAA tournament seed or wondering how the heck we are going to stay in the top 8 and host a conference tourney game. We’ve had a nice stretch here and let’s remain sane.

Haven't played well at all but are still hanging around. I'm good with that. We'll have a strong 2nd half. Typically do.

What does this even mean?

No sense of urgency? In the first half? They're down by 7 points. Why would they ned to be urgent?

And lackluster? Lackluster means uninspired and lacking in conviction.

Just because they played poorly for 20 minutes doesn't mean they "lack conviction".

Why in the hell are people so quick to label poor play with things like "they don't want to win" or "they look lazy" or "totally unprepared!!!!"

Ball State is good. And they're at home. NIU is down 7 at half. Hell, they've only given up 29 points. They're playing good defense (not great) and are shooting poorly against a good team and are still in the game.

I think 1-13 from 3, 3-8 from the ft line and 36% from the floor can be fairly described as lackluster. 29 pts yes, but still almost 1 PPP for a bad offensive team.

So, why did they miss those shots? You point to numbers. Fine. Why? Because they don't care? Because they didn't practice this week? You think they drove all the way to Muncie and just don't want to play basketball tonight? They were satisfied with 6 wins in a row and decided tonight was a night they could just mail it in and take some time off?

So, what is it? Lackluster is a vague word. Give some specifics that point to "lackluster".

RE: Huskies/Cardinals
Well BigRed, Monty basically said the same thing, He said they took to many quick shots. He said they took to many 3’s. NIU had 19 more shots. Lackluster because they started off settling for jump shots not taking time to work it down low as Monty said. Also, Ball St is not good!
