It's not a "weird" question at all (though some may have taken it in that direction).

If you go to games, you know Golden Girls are an important part of the game experience, and we barely have any at all anymore.

It's a very legit question why the spirit and tradition of the GG is obviously in decline.

Perhaps it reflects the decline in the spirit and tradition of the BB program. This thread is close to having as many posts as the recent game thread. Im more interested in the absence of good basketball.

Golden Girls are at the center of UAB's traditions. Just look at the basketball history video tributes; every major win includes Golden Girls leading the rush onto the court. In 1983 a Golden Girl was the intro to the CBS game of the week.

And now they're in the hands of a bammer, apparently dying the slow death we fear for all of our traditions as UAB is turned back into an Extension Center. They came for football and the Honors College, and now they want to kill off our Golden Girls. The Golden Girls fought for #FreeUAB as did every spirit team, and that makes it our responsibility to defend them from crimson blight.

I simply don't buy the "discipline" whisper - there have been issues in the past, and there will be in the future. A strong captain handles it inside the family. This would never have happened when Regina Trent led the squad.

I have no details, but my Golden Wife was infuriated to see their coordinator dressed for attention and walking through the squad at the bowl game.

This is a far greater threat to our identity than any number of lost basketball games. Symbols matter. And this symbol lies at the very heart of what it is to be a Blazer.
