RE: MBB at MTSU
A couple of near upsets tonight. One happened (Marshall beating La Tech at home - actually that's not a major upset). One didn't as Western Kentucky held off a scrappy USM team. Here are the updated CUSA standings on the men's side with the remaining games before the pod play is announced.

North Texas 10-2 (Charlotte, ODU)
WKU 9-3 (at UTEP, at UTSA)
Louisiana Tech 8-4 (FIU, FAU)
FIU 8-4 (at La Tech, at USM)
Charlotte 8-4 (at UNT, at Rice)
Florida Atlantic 6-6 (at USM, at La Tech)
Marshall 6-6 (at UTSA, at UTEP)
Old Dominion 6-6 (at Rice, at UNT)
UAB 5-7 (MTSU, at MTSU)
UTSA 5-7 (Marshall, WKU)
UTEP 4-8 (WKU, Marshall)
Rice 4-8 (ODU, Charlotte)
Southern Miss 3-9 (FAU, FIU)
Middle Tennessee 2-10 (at UAB, UAB)

Pod 2 is still in play for Rice. But it still seems likely that they have to win both games because UAB is going to win at least 1 of the MTSU games you'd imagine, and if it's a 5-9 Rice team tied with UTSA for 10th and 11th place, UTSA would win the tie-breaker.

There isn't a 10-minute timeout. Looking at the play-by-play, MTSU called a 30-second team timeout with 11:34 remaining, and that does not count as the TV timeout. So the next stoppage in play (at 9:11 remaining) was the 12-minute timeout. And then the 8-minute timeout came at 7:30.

Thanks. When these three timeouts were called, they were all called TV timeouts. Looks like they edited to correct the record.

RE: MBB at MTSU
Winning two games on the road in conference is really significant for this team. I hope they have a good home stand and get closer to a .500 conference record. The team seems to be coalescing and it was great to see Tommy McCarthy log some productive minutes at a time when it was sorely needed. He had a really poor game a while back that seemed to bury him deep on the bench.
