J.Cumberland is that team. He's more experienced and hungrier this year too. They added nice size in the paint. Definitely a different team from Cincy this year vs last year. They're good tho. They worry me too.

Anyone know about our injury situations? Edit: since typing I've started watching Penny's Coach Show from 2/10. As wylioats said, Lance had cramping. Dandridge jarred his knee a bit in Temple game and was bencched to allow him to recover. Precious injury sounds as bad as most of us suspected.

This season is far from over. We have several more games in the regular season. One or two games in the conference tournament. And, at least one or two in the CBI.

It seems that way in our own AAC bubble. But when you look at it nationally, we will likely be closer to 4 bids than 1 bid.

You may be right...But some things are going to have to change.

Net Rankings...

A 46 Net is REAL shaky in trying to get an at large.

CBS Sports writeup about AAC

AAC not meeting expectations: Not long ago, the American Athletic Conference looked poised to put three teams comfortably into the NCAA Tournament. Now, it is closer to being a one-bid league. In particular, Memphis and Wichita State are slumping badly.
The Shockers, who rarely lose at home, have lost five of their last seven, including to Houston and Cincinnati at home. Wichita State is now a No. 11-seed in my bracket and just outside the First Four.
Memphis is falling apart at the seams. James Wiseman quit the team rather than return from an NCAA suspension. Second leading scorer DJ Jeffries is out 4-6 weeks with a knee injury. Malcolm Dandridge sat out the loss to USF on Saturday with a knee injury as well, but he's day-to-day. During that game, Precious Achiuwa left the game with an injury late in the second half and did not return. The Tigers have fallen out of the bracket entirely and are not even among my first four out.

Cincinnati had been making a bit of a run, but that derailed in an overtime loss at UConn on Sunday.
Only Houston has been steady and comfortably in the bracket. At the rate things are going, they may be the league's lone representative.

In other Brackets, Houston is an 8 seed and only representative

I’m with you, brother. I am almost starting to hate Cumberland about as much as I’ve hated Van Exel. Cumberland is always pushing off with his off hand and doesn’t get called on it. It drove me crazy last season watching him dribble into the paint or push off and shoot his jumper.

Memphis currently has a NET ranking of 59.
Kenpom ranking of 63.
An RPI of 51.

None of those numbers will get them in the NCAA tournament. The conference is having a down year. The overall strength of schedule isn't even in the top 75. Let's just hope the team stays healthy enough to make it past the first round of the NIT and call it a season.

naw...I am not a fan of 'Hope'. Hope is a weak state of mind and body--it's the last resort.

Some of us enjoy imagining the best possible outcome from the beginning of the season to the last game of the season.

Hey. Don't we want our players to play their hearts out every minute of every game....?

Shouldn't we fans do the same--cheer our hearts out every minute of every game.

Other leagues beat each other up and it's because of the depth and how tough the league is so everyone gets in and stays ranked, we do the same and it means everyone sucks and no one deserves to go to the dance, the P5-G5 double standard is really more than I can take sometimes.

I agree, just like I hate the term mid major. There are some schools that are so called P5 in both football and basketball that year in, year out would have a hard time beating a good high school team, yet they are known as a power school (team). Total bull$h!t!

Just gotta keep improving and promoting Tiger football, so that we have a chance to be P5. That's the only way to cure our ills.

Pffft...Unfortunately that is BS this year.

The computers don't care about the league you are in.

Cinci lost to toothpaste
We lost to Georgia and only barely beat bad UT and Ole Miss teams
Houston lost to BYU and someone else who was shaky

Only team that showed up OOC was WSU and they are falling apart now.

If the AAC wants enough respect to handle losses in league the AAC is going to have to perform OOC.

I'm not beat down into believing that you must beat P5 schools in basketball to show you're worth. Big East, A10, AAC have solid basketball teams. Everyone knows this. Why pollsters refuse to give them respect is beyond me.

BYU, Ga, Colgate.....Rinse and repeat: BYU will be in the tourney. Colgate is a solid basketball team that is the best in their respective conference. Don't be shocked when 2 of these 3 teams (that you keep using to validate G5 bias) end up in the tourney.

I'll bet anyone that there are more than one bids from the AAC.

I'll bet Jerry Palm that Houston is better than an 8-seed. That makes zero sense as of today's metrics.

None whatsoever. I don't see the team getting a first round bye in the tournament either. They may win one game, but I don't see any way possible for them to run the tournament.

While everything you say is true about Human poll bias...

The computers do not have any Bias and our computer numbers are horrible. BYU is the only team with a shot at an at large based on the computers. If Colgate Makes the tourney it is becuase their conference sucks...Not because they are a good team.

The strength of the conference is measured by what you do out of conference. You are right teams don't have to beat P5 teams to have good computer numbers...But if they are not going to play good teams they better not lose. That is the only way to measure a conference...

We played a bad Georgia and lost...
Cinci played a bad Colgate team and lost...(Same ranking as USF...Unless you think USF is SOLID).
BYU is a good team...But if you want the conference to be respected the top teams have to win that game. You cant have your best team losing to a 2/3rd place team in the WCC at home.

We cant stack up wins against directional U and lose to decent teams.
