It's a bit shocking to see how some of our "fans" have turned so negative in a blink of an eye...no wonder some long-time posters are growing tired of spending time on this board...sheesh.

I keep hearing about talent but there isn't much talent on this team as some think. One really good guy in precious and the rest are average dudes.

Look at UNC they are loaded with 5 stars and are 10-13 and probably won't make the NIT.

Some of you already calling for penny to be fired? He certainly needs to work on the offense but damn fire the guy?

I'm frustrated too, but damn, it's not like the team blows.
And Penny is one of our own. He should get a little more rope.

5 years minimum. I'm as disappointed and frustrated as anyone here but I'm not about to start calling for his head or abandon our team. Calls for him to be fired are just pure nonsense. There's no guarantee a new coach would do any better. If we start hiring and firing coached every two years when they don't produce pretty soon we won't be able to attract anyone any better than Tubby or Josh was.

We all love Penny. The question is is he in over his head? Time will tell. This season has been brutal.

I think if we had 10+ losses at this point we could argue he might be over his head. At 17-6 with all that has happened, I think he has been pretty solid for a 2nd year coach.

It’s sad that some people aren’t willing to give the time for a new coach and young team to get it together. It might take a couple of years. It usually does when a program was in the shape of ours when Penny took over. He probably shouldn’t have given the fans so much hope at the beginning of the season. So much has happened that just wasn’t expected. But I do believe the team and staff will learn from it all. If they stick together they will be very hard to beat in the years to come.

Hang in there Tiger fans and give this group and staff your support. They need and deserve it.

News flash they are not fans, they sit on the fence and jump on the bandwagon when all is going well, and have no ability to handle it when things go wrong. One solution I saw was spend the money and hire a big time coach, oh ok, because so many of them are dying to leave their great Power 5 jobs to come help us out, damn why didn't we call Izzo or maybe even Rick Barnes or Greg Marshall who our coach has beaten, they would have been able to lose a lot of guys and still win!!

Wait didn't we hire a former national championship coach that had coached at Ky and was reigning Big 12 coach of the year from the Big 12, that worked well!!!

There's a whole lotta bovine manure on this board since Saturday. Everyone knows that this isn't the season we envisioned. It's not for Penny and the team either. Losing Wiseman was a huge blow when you've practiced all summer and fall and all of a sudden he's not there.

This team is also suffering from the disastrous recruiting (or lack thereof) from Tubby. This has resulted in the team having no upperclassman leadership.

This team is composed of true freshmen, true sophomores, one redshirt sophomore, and a senior who isn't a D1 level athlete and provides no leadership at all that I can tell.

They were down two significant contributors on Saturday and lost two other vital pieces in the final minutes. They came from nine down in the blink of an eye and nearly pulled a victory out of the hat.

Give them some slack. And all of you bashers need to just get the hell off the board.

My only fear is if we don't have success this year then some of this team will transfer (Boogie) and we have no recruits signed for next year.

If this team stays together and can add a couple high level recruits they will be much better next year.

Good point. That is one of the most underrated aspects of a good coach: the ability to keep his team together so that it improves over time. Because of all of the one-and-dones, the thought of a team's chemistry gelling over seasonS (not within the season) is a foreign concept nowadays. Jeremiah Martin went from 10.3 ppg to 18.9 ppg going from his first season as a Tiger to his second. Hopefully, Penny can get some similar growth from his players into next year and it is pretty obvious that next year's pre-season expectations won't be so high.

Josh was an absolute nightmare in that regard.
