Spend the $$ and hire a big name coach who knows what the F they’re doing

This is the answer

Please, enlighten us, which big name coach would have been able to make this team awesome after losing 2 of its 3 best players?

That’s just it. Even the elite go through adversity. Look at Michigan St and UNC this year just to name a few. It just hit Penny in his second year.

I'sn't my job to hire Penny's assistants but he needs a heavy on his staff. We don't have to be awesome, just not look like a high school team.

It's just become obvious this team lacks a disciplinarian/teacher on staff. We lack concentration and focus.

There are lots of legitimate coaches that could qualify.

It's not the most talented team that always wins but the best TEAM. That includes the coaching staff.

Penny knew he needed help hence Larry Brown. That ship has sailed. There are others, just don't think he is on our staff currently.

Hope this helps

It doesn't. Context matters. Penny lost 2 of his 3 best players before February, and one of those is the likely #1 pick of the draft. The team, as it stands, is the youngest in D1 and is going through a lot of growing pains. Yet, we're still 17-6.

Do you think Roy Williams knows how to coach? How about Gregg Marshall? Did WSU's 33-point beatdown to Houston, where you could say they looked like a high school team, expose that he now no longer knows how to coach?

The poster you agreed with was clearly stating we needed to hire a big time HEAD coach to replace Penny. Are you now backing off the ledge and claiming you were talking about an assistant coach?

Don’t forget about Roy Williams or Tom Izzo.

I'm certainly not, but I have posted threads posing what if questions. Several people here are very knowledgeable about the game and have wondered at various low points about his lack of experience at this level, at his coaching style, about his tactics etc.

He IS a 2nd year D1 college coach still learning the ropes of hoops at a higher level. He DOES have a different style than most D1 coaches and some of his tactics like rotations and sub patterns HAVE been curious. All that can be voiced while still supporting him and the team. I don't think that's at all unreasonable.

Only a few idiots have suggested hiring him was wrong and wish to see him prematurely removed.

You'd better stay off Twitter. The honeymoon period is over. After a 40 point shellacking by Tulsa and snatching defeat from the jaws of victory against USF at home, the natives are getting restless. Penny bragged too much and now it's coming back to bite him in the butt.

I've never been talking about hiring anything other than a veteran head coach as assistant to mentor Penny.

Please show me anywhere I've called for Penny to be replaced.

It hasn't happened but we do need to spend for a veteran coach imo.

Everyone knew it coming in. But they got so glassy eyed with the recruiting class they forgot everything else. Penny is a very smart man. He will figure it out.

I really don't this THIS fanbase is different from most other fanbases.

There may be a few more tolerant fanbases out there and probably quite a few that don't have many passionate fans so - less bitching but also less caring.
