ESPN Network Wednesday 7pm - See a Tiger doing Well
Australian Open Men's Doubles Semifinal -

Joe Salisbury, Great Britain, played #1 for Memphis Tigers and led them to NCAA tournament.

As a doubles player and his partner Rajeev Ram (US) are #11 seeds in this Aussie Open in which most seeds in all the draws have been wiped out.

The #4 seed team is the only other seeded team alive playing in other Semi against 2 unseeded Aussies. They have a great opportunity to win the Australian Open doubles.

This is his 2nd Grand Slam Doubles Semi - he and his partner made the 2018 Wimbledon Semifinals.

The Final will be Saturday night at 7pm on an ESPN channel.

I hope to see 5-9 Tigers (no more than that please) doing well at around the same time.

I can't believe doubles tennis will be on ESPN at that hour.

Considered the professional Tennis "Shot of the Year" -

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZnPwCZYxig

Losing Australian Open Doubles FINALISTS split $375k. WINNERS split $750,000.

Lot of money riding on this - Tennis you eat what you kill.
Tournament appearance guarantees like golf only for the highest ranked Singles players who frankly don't need it with endorsement deals.

Good to see him accomplishing this - those "evil" Volunteers had a former player (from Gallatin) play 5 set Quarterfinal Singles against Federer.

Don't want to be portrayed as unaccomplished little stepbrother from across the state with boogers hanging out of nose.

Joe Salisbury is now in Australian Open Final -

11pm Saturday night ESPN Network

https://www.espn.com/tennis/story/_/id/2...oubles-run

Playing unseeded underdog Aussies the country loves - like playing Loyola Chicago in an NCAA Final at United Center.

Salisbury/Ram are almost 2 to 1 ML favorites.

They win and in all probability Salisbury plays on the British Olympic Tennis team this summer according to articles.

He is defying odds for success - P5 revenue causes even greater competitive imbalance in non revenue sports.

2 yrs ago 15 of final sweet 16 NCAA Tennis teams were P5 - Top 25 Ivy Champ Columbia the outlier.

Thank God Tigers tennis coach smartly recruits foreign players like Salisbury - US Mens Tennis has been bad for a couple decades

Update:

Joe Salisbury winning the Australian Open Doubles made him the #3 rated Doubles player in the World (not #4 as was forecasted).

They are the #1 Men's Doubles team in the World -
