Sure there’s a bigger nugget out there, but keep in mind that the #1 seed in the conference tournament is guaranteed an NIT berth if they don’t win the conference tourney and NCAA bid.
Only one game behind BG who has a more difficult schedule remaining (Akron twice, Kent St).
We are in fair standing as it is and can certainly slip a multiple of rungs but let’s see what we can come up with the next couple of weeks.

There is a lot of season left and 4 of there next 5 games are on the road. They really should have won at CMU but so far so good. The East/West division’s don’t matter. They are currently the 2-seed overall and that’s what matters.

They really needed to win that BGSU game because they really are two games behind BGSU-tie breaker by losing that game.

Could you imagine going from basically expecting to fire the coach to a possibility of hosting an NIT game. Would be crazy but huge for NIU basketball

+1.
Dose of reality: Saying Northern is atop the MAC West sound great, but that's it. Except for who you are guaranteed to play twice, home and away, division means zilch. This isn't MAC football.
Being just as excited as anyone else, I need this reminder too, so forgive stating the obvious.
The whole 18-game conference season is about determining seeds in the MAC Tournament, taking aim at that auto bid to the NCAA Tournament. All 12 teams get at least one MACT game. Seeds 1-4 get a bye. Seeds 5-8 stay home to host a first-rounder. Seeds 9-12 travel to hostile territory. Those are the rewards/costs of seeding.
Be nice to host a game at the Convo, but better to get a bye. Stay healthy. Plot and plan. Study video. And practice.
One game at a time. The schedule isn't about who's left to play, but who's next ... @ Ball State on Tuesday.

It would be incredible to drive to Cleveland for MAC Championship Saturday this year. Wish the tourney was Fri-Sun instead of Thu-Sat. Hard to get off work for Friday semifinal last year after an upset on 0-day notice.

I went for the first time last year and it was a lot of fun. The tournament is well run and the arena is a good place to watch games. I went to all of the men’s games, not just the NIU games, and with the parity of the MAC this year I expect to do that again this year. The intensity of one and done makes each game exciting. It would be great to get a bye this year to make it easier for people to plan on making the trip.

If they win today is this the best run for NIU basketball in the last 20 years? I would think.
