Offensive Offense
Where did the offense go in college basketball? Channel surfacing just now and say awful basketball played in the last of thirst half Virginia vs Clemson. 26-14. Lots of those types of games including us this year.

Guard worship.

Focus on driving to the hoop and shooting 3's.

Bigs can't do anything without refs calling a foul or travel. (in most games, not all)

RE: Offensive Offense
They kept trying to change the college game to be more like the NBA game. The talent level is so diluted among the teams that you do not have enough quality players to play this style of game.

The mop up players on NBA teams were stars on their college team. But you have a half dozen or other players on those teams who are no where near as talented and you are expecting them to play the same type of ball as the top players in the world.

You have no elite teams this year. This is probably the worst year of college basketball in a decade or so. The national championship is legitimately wide open for any team that gets in March. But that also results in a lot of ugly regular season basketball...

I'm kind of glad that the elites have been lain low so to speak. I for one was tired of Kentucky, Duke, NC, Kansas and a few other blue bloods having a lock on the game year after year. It might not make for pretty games but it gives us some other teams to pull for.

Officiating doesnt help. When officials call every little touch it kills the flow of the game. Talent is an issue

Some other issues are the rules. College needs to add he defensive 3 seconds, they need to get rid of the possession arrow, add a 6th foul.... Those are just a few things that need to change

Virginia games are probably not a good reference because of how they play, but I do agree with your point.

My hope is that if/when the NBA allows 18 year olds to be drafted again that there would be a 2-year requirement if you go to college. I wanted that before, but they went with one year instead.

Many were saying moving the 3 point line was going to help space the floor.

I always thought that was stupid. If players could effectively shoot 1 foot further back than they would have...They didn't need a line on the floor to allow them to do that.

Now what we have done is make defenses begin to crowd the paint even more because the three point shot is less of a threat.

I watched a replay of an old Kentucky v Louisville NCAA game played up in Knoxville from 1983. The level of play was so much better than it is now. The 3pt line changed the college game for the worse... as has early entry into the NBA.

You liked teams passing the ball around the perimeter for 50 seconds and throwing an entry into the post where a guy took a 7 footer over the whole defense packed in the lane?

because that's what most of those games were like.

Watching basketball before the 3P line is hilarious and not in a good way.

Add a defensive 3 second call and that would stop

This was OUR year.

Penny's second.

I think we could have won it with that #1 recruiting class actually panning out.

By this point in the season, Wiseman would be unstoppable.

And others would have had a much better chance at playing to their strengths with the anchor that Wiseman established.

The entire season was built around James Wiseman and his strengths.

Totally agree.. The biggest difference I see is that in todays game it’s mostly one on one basketball.. Back then set plays were run whereas today it’s just run and gun..It was much better Basketball back then!!

The onset of one & done basketball has pushed some coaches to change their offenses to try and attract aspiring pros... and even worse... the pro game has evolved, thanks to Golden State, into a 3ball league. The problem for college ball is there aren’t enough quality players to play that style of ball, so we’re left with immature players trying to run a motion offense and doing a terrible job of it. They don’t have the skill to create their own shot, but keep being encouraged to do it, because it’s not about the development of the team, but the development of the individual. Personally, I don’t think it’s good for the pro or college game.

The irony is football is exactly the opposite. More and more pro teams are embracing elements of the RPO college-style offenses, because college qbs can come in and make an almost immediate impact... see Patrick Mahommes or Kyler Murray.

I wish the NBA would go to similar draft rules/restrictions as the NFL or MLB... it would be better for everyone involved.
