What should be the penalty for allowing an athlete to drive your car?

Remember, ESPN """analyst""" Jay Williams said Beilein leaving could be good for Michigan so UM could "get its culture back".

I thought the comment by the spokesman for the basketball team was especially appropriate. He said: "We viewed [Simpson's] situation as an educational opportunity for him as well as the rest of the team".
And, after all, isn't providing "educational opportunities" for athletes what major college sports is all about? Way to go Michigan!

The implication from the article -- though they didn't come right out and say it -- is: The AD's son, who is a student manager for the team, uses one of his parents' cars, and Simpson, the player, "borrowed" that car either with or without permission from the manager/AD's son.

The 1996 rollover on M-14 at 5 AM with Maurice Taylor behind the wheel of a leased Ford Explorer with then-recruit Mateen Cleaves as a passenger was much worse optically because (late) Robert Traylor, Willie Mitchell, and Louis Bullock were also in the SUV returning from a party hosted by Ed Martin.
That's much worse.
